6 most overrated games of this generation that everyone loves

Some games that are hyped up, lives up to the expectation while others go down like a sack of potatoes. We are going to be discussing about the top 4 games that just did the latter. They are all recently released games. So stay with us throughout the list.

Kickstarter: A bane?

There are too many games to play right now, just too much. If Kickstarter is to be praised for the rise of some great indie games we wouldn't have seen otherwise, it is also responsible for a slew of other games that are nothing but just overrated and crap. While most of the games deliver on the promises they made their backers and fans, rest are just scams.

What surprises me, though, is that if you try to criticize them, fanboys will go after you like nuts in a wake to try to save the game from criticisms. But ain't anyone stopping me from doing that now!

Here are some of the games that in my opinion are just overhyped and nothing more. Have a look at them and decide for yourself whether they deserve your attention or not:

Call Of Duty Series

Remember when Call of Duty paved the way for other multiplayer focused FPS? It was the game that taught us how to have fun in multiplayer games. Modern Warfare was just an epic game that deserved more praise than it really got, but what followed after that game was just sequels one after another. They were nothing more than copy and pastes of the previous games. How much could you improve in just one year, especially when you are making games? Games need some time and love to develop, at least 3-4 years to say the least. But what Activision did was just give the studio a deadline of 1 year to continue churning out a COD game. If they fail, they will replace the studio with another one.

So the poor developers had to resort to copy pasting. What else could they do to survive? And surprise, did it sell well! Oh my, they had just found a short cut to be billionaires, and in the next couple of years, they just did that.

While COD will continue to sell millions each year wooing all its staunch fans, it's not for hardcore and rational people like me. That's not to say I loathe those who buy this annual franchise I just pity them for spending so much at something they could use on buying other worthy games. But to each, their own, I reckon!

GTA 4

If you want to see how popular GTA IV still is despite being 6 years from its release, just look at how busy and engaged their servers are!

While GTA V was a great technical achievement for that time, I don't agree with some people who proclaim this to be one of the greatest games of all time. I don't concur at all. Yes, it was a decent game with a gigantic map to explore, but its frustrating game designs and straying from the paths of predecessor, made its staunch and longtime fans really unhappy.

The good thing, though, is that they learned from their mistakes and patched everything up really soon and delivered one of the best successors to the GTA franchise, GTA V. It just launched last year and has almost sold 53 million copies on PS3 and 360 alone. Just imagine how well it will do on PCs!

Bioshock Infinite

When they showcased the game to public for the first time back in 2011, the whole E3 hall echoed with clamoring claps and whistles. It was hyped up to be the next big thing for the last 2 years, but it wasn't the case when it launched.

While it was a great game for a single play through, the $60 I paid for that had me itching for some more value for my money. There is zero replay value. Once you are done with that game, you are done for good. This is not what I want from a game. If I have pad a full price for something give me a game that has a better replay value than his.

So it wasn't a surprise when Irrational Games laid off half of their staff for good. Now only 15 people work there! It was a bit too harsh on those people, don't you think?

Uncharted 3

You will see this game on almost all the list of overrated games, because most people feel that it didn't deserve the praise and hype it got from media and fans. While it was a decent third-person shooter to play for a while, the multiplayer was shunned for no reason. Moreover, the single player was so constrict that you could get though it without even using your mind to contemplate at all. As to why they did make it that easy, we would never know that.

Assassin's Creed series

I really liked what first few games this series had to offer, but after a while, skulking up on people, eavesdropping and the generic assassinations got a tad boring for me. How long could you ensure playing the same re-skinned material time and again?

While Ubisoft is adamant on their annual churning out approach, because why not, I am going to bail out from this series and take a break from it for the first time in last 6 years. It will be the first time in those years that I won't buy their game. However awesome hat game might be, I am not touching it. It turns out to be the same over-hyped crap every time.

LA Noire

It really sounds like a captivating concept on paper, but when they morphed it into a game, however, it just went awry. Granted, a detective's work is not making haste and reache to conclusions in haste, but the game was just too slow for my taste. It seemed like they decided to slow the whole thing down including driving in the game. The driving mechanics were too late to response at ties causing me to bump into other vehicles inadvertently. This is not how a professional should drive but blame the creators of this game for everything, not me.

For what it's worth, though, I can say for sure that this game is worth a shot. I mean, let's not be too harsh on LA Norie. While it was a bit of slow burn, sometimes, this is what we need the most. So, all in all, it was a good experience.

I know there are a slew of games that deserved to get in this list, but our list comprised of top 6 overrated games and those listed above are what I deem to be most overrated of the lot. Let me know in the comments what do you think about this list. Do you have your own list of over-hyped games you want to share with us?

Talking about overrated and getting more than what one deserves, how can one forget about Candy Crush Saga? Well, if you want to read more, about it, you can read Ankit's review and guide of Candy Crush.
