Why Hotmail id is better than Outlook.com mail id?
Although, both Hotmail.com and Outlook.com are from Microsoft, many still prefers to keep Hotmail id than to shift to Outlook.com. Read this article to learn about the advantages.
Outlook.com looks very cool and I already started using it. However, even though I started using the new interface, I haven't switched to a new Outlook.com account yet. I created a new Outlook.com address but I am still using the Hotmail address as the primary account login.
Here are some reasons why you should not switch to Outlook.com email address suddenly:
1. You will need to reconfigure your email clients, phone etc to receive emails to the new mail address.
2. If you are using your Hotmail account to login to any devices or apps, some of them may need reconfiguration and some of them may require logging in using the new credentials. Windows Phone require additional steps. Programs like Marketplace, Xbox LIVE, SkyDrive, Email etc will stop working once you change your Microsoft account login to Outlook.com address. To resolve this problem, you will need to reconfigure your account login and restore to factory settings before you can use your new Outlook.com address.
3. Your friends and contacts may not recognize your new email id. Take your time and inform your contacts about your new email id by sending an email from your old address.
4. Other people who have filters to move your emails to certain folders or have some specific action based on your email id will stop working after you switch to your email id.
5. Until your new email id establish some reputation, mail spam filters may block your emails if they involve some content that they suspect.
6. If you have important clients who have prioritized your email id will not longer have that priority for your email id.
7. After you upgrade to Outlook.com, your primary login will be changed to your new mail id. This may make all of the other Microsoft applications also to login using the new email address.
8. If your email id is whitelisted in some systems, you will need to get the new email id whitelisted by contacting them and convincing them about the change.
9. If you are using Windows Live Family Safety on your computer with your Hotmail address, you will need to uninstall and reinstall Windows Live Essentials.
If you have already upgraded your hotmail address to Outlook but want to go back, here are the instructions to switch back to Hotmail address after upgrading to Outlook.com id.
Hello Tony John,
I have heard that Microsoft will upgrade all the hotmail id's to outlook id's in future. So, I think we should not upgrade our hotmail id's ourselves.
It would be much better and compatible for us if Microsoft will do it for us.
Thanks and Regards,
