How to remove Windows 10 preview update from Windows updates
Did you try to install Windows 10 on your computer but later changed your mind? Learn how to get rid of the Windows 10 preview from your Windows updates.
I started upgrading my Windows 7 laptop to Windows 10 by running the preview installer. It first installed a small update, which prompted me to run a Windows update to complete the upgrade process. But I changed my mind later and decided not to continue with the upgrade. However, this Windows update didn't go away and it kept on bothering me to install the Windows Technical preview update.
I looked at the Windows update screen and there was one entry that says "Upgrade to Windows Technical Preview".
On the right panel, it shows some additional information:
Upgrade to Windows Technical Preview
Recommended Update
Install a preview of the next version of Windows
I know this was caused by installing the Windows 10 Preview installer and the only way I could get rid of this was by uninstalling the Windows update I installed as part of the preview installer.
After a bit of research, I figured out it was the update KB2990214. Now all I have to do is, uninstall this particular update from the installed Windows updates.
