Motorola Moto G is an Android based economical smartphone recently launched by Motorola (a Google company) run by Google now. First register your Moto G

Once you get the device in hand, you should first register it on Motorola website to get continuous support and warranty from Motorola and Google. Please make sure of following details.
  • You will need active Google account and IMEI number for registration purpose. You will get IMEI number from following path:
    Settings-About Phone-Status-SIM Status and note down 'IMEI' and 'Serial number'.
  • You should complete the Motorola Device ID activation process.
  • To be registered successfully for Motorola Device ID and activation purpose, you should activate activate 'Android Device Manager' and 'Motorola Device Policy'
    Now, go to Motorola Website and
  • Sign up on Motorola website
  • Click on Product Registration
It will ask for Ask for Google account. Accept the terms and conditions and you will get your Motorola Device ID confirmed.

Once you will set up your profile, you will go to 'My Stuff' and add your device i.e. Moto G (Provided you have successfully done the above process). Now to avail of service and warranty, you should provide 'proof of purchase' of your phone. i.e. Electronic receipt of MOTO G purchase.

Setup your Moto G

You need to update the native applications and software in Moto G to get the latest version and support. You need to have an activated Internet connection in your phone. Once you connect your phone with the Internet, you will get notifications about the latest updates and upgrades. You should simply agree with them and update the phone. Also Start using Play Store to avail various applications and games from Google open market. You can even upgrade existing OS to the latest Android KitKat version latest update from Motorola and Google.

Avail free 50 GB storage in Google Drive

Google has given a very attractive gift to Moto G buyers that it will give 50 GB storage free for two years from product registration. Once you setup your phone, you should click on 'Google Drive'. You will ask for Google account for initialization. When done, you will see an additional 50 GB storage for Two years in addition to 15 GB (default storage for Google Drive). So you can now owner of 65 GB space for Google Drive. You can check in your Gmail, 65 GB will be already added there.

Install popular social media applications

You can now be able to download 'Facebook', 'Whatsapp', 'Truecaller', 'WeChat', 'Twitter' and many more applications to get active in social media.

Few tips about Moto G

1. You can secure your Moto G with Motorola Device ID. That you already did.
2. You can take screenshots of the device by use of power and down volume button. You need to press both bottoms at a time and you will hear the shuttering sound. That will give you an indication of a screenshot.
3. Moto G does not come with external memory but you can avail 50 GB free space from Google Drive. You need to just activate it. Your data will be automatically uploaded on cloud storage of Google.
4. Use 'Dropbox' cloud service and get additional free space by activation.
5. You can use the 'Moto Migrate tool' to transfer the old phone's data and contact automatically.
