Upcoming Flexible technologies – features, form factor and anticipated benefits, Part-2
Flexible smart gadgets like PaperTab and Samsung Youm have already gained huge popularity and received better response from tech enthusiasts. In this post, I shall describe features, form-factor and anticipated benefits of these smart gadgets.
Flexible technologies
As everyone knows, at present, tech gadget manufacturers are facing cut-throat competition in market. Now accepting new technologies and producing on based products is their prime target. Such innovative products support them maintaining their position and stay longer in competitive market. And the curiosity of users for such innovative products works as a strong link between customers and tech products making companies.
In my last post, I covered two such eagerly awaited flexible products – flexible laptop and flexible batteries. I covered their inside manufacturing technology and potential benefits in future. And for this time I am back with two more upcoming bendable, roll able, flexible gadgets that are the perfect substitutes of tablets, papers, large monitors and smartphones we are using today. PaperTab – a robust and bendable future tablet
The idea is to completely remove the papers we are using at present because they get destroyed after certain duration. Since tablets we are using today are thick as well as costlier so, no one can use multiple tablets at an instance. But in future, one will use multiple paper tablets simultaneously for accomplishing various useful purposes. The Paper Tab is a cool technology from Plastic Logic (the maker) which is designed to avoid wooden papers and large monitors, in coming days. This is not only thin and light in weight but also robust against drops. Form factor
The company showcased this flexible robust product at CES 2013 which features a 10.7 inches touch screen display. Unlike glass-based display devices we are using today, this paper will come with a fully operative plastic touch screen. It is a highly flexible tablet with very thin shape just like a paper but having capabilities of a usual tablet. Inside its plastic body, the company embeds a 2nd generation Core i5 processing chip.
This electronic paper has a complete plastic body which allows user bend it like paper. At a time, each tab will work for single application only and one paper will be used to keep single note onto it. A user can have a complete set of such plastic papers inside his business document or exams notebook folder, each having relative link to the next. Anticipated benefits
This is an eco-friendly technology which will help saving papers and trees in future.
Multiple PaperTabs (each with link to its relative tab) can be filed in a folder, very easily.
No need to take prints of your file as each tab works as printout itself.
By adjoining multiple tabs, one can make a large sheet for sketching.
You do not need separate touch screen monitor to put your contents in computer. You can type directly on paper tab.
It will give be helpful in providing a clean and better work environment, in future.
As it has a long life rugged body, it will last longer.
Samsung Youm smartphone with OLED display
Though the tablets we are using today are efficient to perform our daily computing needs but their large size becomes a problem while travelling outside. Neither one can put it in his pocket easily nor keep it in hand, comfortably. But now a perfect substitute of such bulky devices is arriving in market which can be carried or fit-in anywhere, very easily.
This year, at CES 2013 show in Las Vegas, Samsung unveiled this super thin innovative device – named Youm with fold able, roll able as well as bendable built-up. This nice and flexible built handset was demonstrated as the next generation device. Features
The device with OLED display gives amazing contrast and colors experience to its user. The nice looking mobile is built with some malleable material (not disclosed by company). The flexible built-up of device allows user bi-fold it and keep in his wallet. You can even bend its edges or roll to fit it inside your pocket or mobile stand of your office table. Other upcoming flexible smartphone prototypes
Samsung is not the solo player who is working on bendable gadgets but companies like LG and Nokia are also working on same project. Earlier, both have also demonstrated flexible prototypes of their future smartphones and tablets. In fact many main stream techno gadget makers are financing for such innovations and a number of such emerging technologies and innovative products are going to be announced, very near in future.
We shall continue to bring news and information about such innovations for you. Just keep following us.
