How to add From or BCC fields in Outlook 2003 and 2010

In this article, I am going to give the steps for adding From and BCC fields in MS Outlook 2003 and 2010. Please read it in detail to know what these fields are and how are they helpful and why is it important to add them in Outlook while sending emails.

Introduction

A From field in outlook says the name of the person on whose behalf you are sending the message. By default, the From field will be your name and this may contain your mailbox name on whose name you are sending the message.

Likewise, BCC is a field which is known as Blind Carbon Copy. By giving the e-mail ID of the receiver in the e-mail in this field, a user can hide the identity of the receiver.

Let's see under which circumstances, most users use these two features of Outlook while sending e-mails.

A From field is often used by the users sending e-mails from a shared mailbox. In this situation, if a user is granted access to send e-mails on behalf of the group mailbox's owner, he can use this option and mention the e-mail ID of the shared or group mailbox. Similarly, BCC option is used by the users who do not want to reveal the identity of the receivers. This is done specially during the time of announcing any rewards and recognition in the form of an e-mail because revealing this information to all the winners about each other might not be considered fair in a few companies.

This option is also used by the people who send kate e-mail chains as they don't want to reveal to who all the email is being sent.
This helps a user to send an e-mail to the people he wants and looking for keeping his friend's list a secret.

In addition to it, CC which is known as Carbon Copy is a field used by the users to keep the e-mail informational. In this field, according to e-mail etiquette, the email IDs of the recipients must be mentioned in the order of designation of the member. For example, if an e-mail is being sent to an employee by his manager, the manager can mention the e-mail ID of other managers, or AVPs and VPs as per designation. He must mention the e-mail ID of the VP first in the CC column, then AVP and so on.
