Datawind, a Canadian electronics company known for producing Aakash tablet is again in news with another version of the UbiSlate, 7C+ Edge which is currently available for online purchase. The Ubislate 7C+ Edge tablet spots a 7-inch Multi-touch(four point) projective capacitive touch screen display with 800x480 resolution. Powered by a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor and 4GB of RAM, the tablet runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
The UbiSlate 7C+ Edge comes along with a 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. On the connectivity side, the tablet would have 2G EDGE connectivity option, Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, USB and voice calling facility. For video chat, front-facing VGA camera is being equipped. The 3,200mAH battery would deliver 4 hours of unlimited usage in WiFi.
With few days left for Datawind to supply 1 lakh units of Aakash 2 tablet, Datawind is gearing up to add one more device to its Aakash lineup. Dubbed as Aakash 3, the tablet will be launched in mid-2013. As the specification of the device has to be finalised by the National Mission for Education through Information Communication Technology (NMEICT), the Aakash 3 will come with a faster processor and would support both Linux and Android OS.
