Outlook calendar and task reminders do not pop up in outlook in 2003 and 2010

Here, I have tried to give solution or troubleshooting steps for two versions of Outlook (2007 and 2010) when a user does not get reminders in the outlook. It becomes quite crucial when users miss important reminders regarding their meeting and becomes difficult for them to manager time at office if outlook reminders option does not work properly. This has been found out to be one of the most common scenarios reported by especially by the top level employees whose each and minute is very important and outlook calendar options need to work smoothly for them.

I have given the steps for two two versions 2003 and 2010. This would also help the ones preparing for interview as I have tried to make it look very simple and effective.Outlook 2010: Verifying or Changing Outlook Reminder Settings:
Step 1 Open Outlook 2010
Step 2 Click the File tab.
Step 3 Click Options.
Step 4 Click Calendar.
Step 5 To turn default reminders on or off for all new appointments or meetings, under Calendar options, select or clear the Default reminders check box.
Step 6 If you select the check box, enter how long before the appointment or meeting when you want the reminder to appear up to two weeks in advance depending on your personal preference. Outlook 2010: Calendar or Task Reminders Failing to appear
Step 1 Verify Outlook reminders are turned on with the steps listed above.
Step 2 Close Outlook
Step 3 Go to the Start Menu and click in the Search Programs and Files Box
Step 4 Copy and paste the following command into the search box and hit enter on your keyboard:
"c:\program files\microsoft office\office14\outlook.exe" /cleanreminders
Step 5 After running the command, Outlook should automatically open and your reminders should start appearing againNote: Paths that include spaces between words must be enclosed in quotation marks (") and are case sensitive.
Outlook 2003 Verifying or Changing Outlook Reminder Settings:
Step 1 Open Outlook
Step 2 On the Tools menu, click Options.
Step 3 Click the Other tab, and then click Advanced Options.
Step 4 Click Reminder Options.
Step 5 Select or clear the Display the reminder check box.
Step 6 If you display reminders, select or clear the Play reminder sound check box, and then, if you want, enter the path of a sound file. Outlook 2003 Calendar or Task Reminders Failing to appear:
Step 1 Verify Outlook reminders are turned on with the steps listed above.
Step 2 Close Outlook
Step 3 Go to the Start Menu and select Run
Step 4 Copy and paste the following command into the Run Box and hit enter on your keyboard:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Outlook.exe" /Cleanreminders
Step 5 After running the command, Outlook should automatically open and your reminders should start appearing again. Note: Paths that include spaces between words must be enclosed in quotation marks (") and are case sensitive.

For me another solution worked!Right click on taskbar - properties - taskbar buttons - never combine. Then set an appointment and wait for the alert to appear in the taskbar. Now right click on the alert in the taskbar - unpin from taskbar. Now the alerts window will pop up again in front of everything!
