Interview with Deljo Joseph, a company secretary student and blogger by interest
Read the interview with Deljo Joseph, who is pursuing CS with B.Com and a passionate blogger. He is the founder of the Eyepoppers Creative Solutions LLP. This entrepreneur from a rural part of Kerala, is an inspiration for all the youngsters out there.
You have been a successful online entrepreneur and have been an inspiration to many other new comers. Please introduce yourself to our members?
I'm an ordinary guy from a village (Thankamany) in Idukki district of Kerala. What really fascinated me about doing something online is you can literally work from anywhere with an internet connection. Right now, I am pursuing CS with B.Com. But, my affection lies in marketing and technology.
How old are you? How many years you have been in this business?
I am 19 years old. I started research on online marketing and related business stuffs from 2010, but got involved in it from 2012.
Please tell us about your journey into online business?
I searched on Google for building something online in 2010-2011. Usually, I ended up having no idea where and how to start. Later in 2011-2012, I saw lot of articles on blogging, SEO, digital marketing & content marketing. Since I had to set a track to kick start my first project, it took a while in between my studies and jobs at some companies.
What is your background in this field? What makes you successful in this business?
Most often, like many other Google is my teacher and if I find something I can't understand, there are many online communities wherein you get help to move ahead.
What do you do in order to keep up with latest tools and technologies? What do you do to sharpen your skills and keep yourself updated?
Search Engine Land, Hubspot, Mashable, Techcrunch, SEOmoz, Digital point and Warrior forums helped me a lot to acquire sound knowledge in digital marketing and also start up lab by YEC inspired us to try something on ourselves.
What are the technology websites and blogs you are associated with?
Right now I am working full time with Eyepoppers Creative Solutions LLP, which serves businesses in their digital marketing needs. I have my colleagues Jijo Jose, John P John and Josmin Jose in my team.
What do you do when you are not working on your business?
You may find me hanging around with my friends somewhere in my village or at Cochin or at the nearest theatre.
How is your daily schedule/how many hours you work per day?
It's really an interesting question. I actually haven't counted working hours yet. If I get a work to be done, getting over from it will count.
What are your future plans? How are you planning to expand your business?
My current goal is to dig deeper into the digital ecosystem. Digital is going to be the future. As it evolves we will see how we can work that out.
Is there enough scope for more people to come to this business?
In every niche, people who are determined to do something can excel in any business, irrespective of how many are involved in it. As I said, digital is going to be the future. It's going to change how brands interact and engage with customers.
Which are the online social communities you are most active on?
Linkedin did really help connect with interesting people in my niche.
How did blogging help you personally other than making money?
Blogging helped me to connect with new people/entrepreneurs from different parts of the world. You will learn a lot on way, and it guides you ahead.
What does your family think about your business?
My parents are totally unsure of what I'm doing. They are into agriculture. However, they are open-minded and are always open to my dreams and aspirations.
Which technology company you like the most - Microsoft/Google/Apple? And why? Which company you think will be doing best after 5 years from now?
It's really a confusing question. In fact, I like all the three companies. Since I am a design lover, Apple is my favorite. Google has the potential to stand out as the internet is evolving and they have the data to drive consistent innovation in the online battlefield.
