Ever since Apple came out with their concept of an application driven user experience for their hardware marvels, the computing page has never been the same again. The concept of using devices, with tailor made apps has caught on so much that it is now difficult to imagine a page on our devices in any other manner. Thousands of developers now develop millions of apps around the page, to cater to a plethora of requirements. Microsoft has been a late entrant to this activity, but is steadily catching up its lost ground through the launch of windows 8 and its accompanying App store. one of the newest additions to this App store is the child targeted educational game My Coloring Pages.What is My Coloring Pages about?
My Coloring Pages is a free application available in the Windows Store, that has been developed by INEDI, which was formed in 2012. INEDI is known for its modern user interfaces and has already developed apps such as My Message for Windows 8 and Cockroach Crush which are some of the best sellers. Their new application, My Coloring Pages, replicates the coloring books of the old days. It's simple to use, the user can select a picture of his or her choice, select from a wide range of colors, brush sizes and then paint to their hearts' content. The basic application is free and comes with a set of 18 random pictures to color and save. More pictures can be purchased by paying a small fee (a total of 5 sets of 18 templates each are available). The Windows 8 app also comes with a blank sheet wherein the user can draw a picture of their own. The My Coloring Pages app has a plethora of features that makes it a treat to use. Features included are:
My Coloring Pages is basically a child development game which is fun-filled and creative. The most important feature is that, it is not complicated. It has a very convenient user interface with all the tools in the screen. The Windows 8 app has complete compatibility with tablets. My Coloring Pages app gives a natural painting and coloring experience, when using both hands. There are a variety of coloring pages available which are divided into sections like Animals, Machinery, Technical, For Girls, For Tots etc. They have also introduced a new section named Funny, which all the kids will love. This Windows 8 app can be used by age groups above 3 years. You will not miss your childhood days, only that the coloring book here is a virtual one. The pastel palette is a unique one. I was completely glued to the app and I moved away from the screen only when I completed the painting, saved and mailed it to keep a copy. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Pros and Cons of the Windows 8 app
Pros
My Coloring Pages app is sure to keep children engrossed for hours due to the sheer choices available. And the various brush sizes will definitely educate a kid in his/her motor skills. You can also personalize the pages as required. The app is a 100% compatible with all kinds of tablet devices and is free. The app is superior and looks good at any resolution.
Cons
The app is currently available only on Windows 8 platform. Also, while there are a large number of brush sizes available for use, one would need a stylus to adequately use the smaller sizes and avoid smudging while painting. A key defect of My Coloring Pages, that came to our notice while testing the app was that there is no option for erasing. If one makes a mistake while painting or drawing, the only option is to delete the entire drawing till that point and start afresh. Or you would have to use the white paint if the background is white. This is sure to test the patience of young children. In addition, we wouldn't complain if there were a lot more color variants like shining gold, silver etc available for use in the application.

My Coloring Pages App is clearly targeted at children. It's free, easy to use and provides a lot of fun and options. Using it will clearly help children develop their motor skills. So what if there is no option to erase? We are sure children won't be bothered about such trivial details. And any app that allows children to use tablets in a learning mode is clearly a welcome addition to every parent wish list.
