Entrepreneurs meet up Indian tech bloggers in New Delhi

Blogger's meet are always fun and enriching. Read about my recent tech blogger meet at the Taj Mahal Hotel and know about some innovative U.K. Entrepreneurs who are looking to make an entrance into the Indian market.

Recently I got a wonderful opportunity to meet up some U.K. entrepreneurs related to varied technology who are planning to make a foray into the Indian markets. No surprises there, the growth India has seen lately in terms of mobile devices consumption clearly speaks about the vast potential India has in terms of innovative technology market. It has attracted industries from all corners of the globe and even the rusted bureaucracy of Indian government has not been able to kill the interest of these marketers completely. Talking to these entrepreneurs from U.K. it was clear that they are quite enthusiastic about their entry into the Indian market but at the same time quite cautious too.

I have till now not attended many blogger meet ups. A few which I have gone to were organized by IndiBlogger and I am used to big presence in these meet ups. But this event had something different in store for me. The event was organised by the PR Agency Avian Media for Web Mission 2013. It is an entrepreneur-led mission to India by UK's best digital, wireless and mobile software technology companies who are looking to enter the Indian market. I and my blogger friend were invited to Taj Mahal Hotel located in New Delhi near Man Singh Road. On our reach up I was a little confused to see no blogger meet up like event and above that when we asked the reception about the event they had no information about it! Well, I just got a fear that I may have just been a victim of bad joke. But then we tried to contact the PR agency by the contact number we had in the mail. We got a reply and somebody was one their way to receive us. Soon enough a lady was there to escort us to the room, a lobby in the Taj Mahal Hotel were only 1 more blogger was sitting. Slowly the number of bloggers rose to 8, some of them known to me and the entrepreneurs made an appearance. With just a few seats, it came upon me that it was not that people had not come; the fact was that only a few of us were invited.

The meet up started with the company executives giving a brief introduction about their companies. After that, with 8 technology bloggers and 9 entrepreneurs started the round table meet up with the executives coming to the blogger tables and facing our questions. I won't go into the details of what exactly we talked about because no investment has been done by these companies in India till now except for some research about the market. But I will give you an overview of what we can expect from these companies in case they make the final decision of investing in India:
Webmission 2013

  • Ambiental Technical Solutions: Let by Dr. Justin Butler, who has a Ph.D. in flood modeling and applied mathematics from Cambridge University, ATS is insurance focused flood risk mapping and modelling consultancy. Its core work is based on Flowroute-i™" software which can measure the flood risk and thus help is proper flood risk mitigation with targeted insurance.

  • Audioboo: It is a app and website based audio sharing service which allow anyone with an internet connection to share their audio clips on Facebook, Wordpress and more.

  • Zondle: It is a game based learning available in form of apps and website which allows students and teaches to create, share and play these games to give a new dimension to their learning experience.

  • Cyan: Cyan specializes in developing technology for Smart metering and cloud based control systems which help in making the existing grid system into a smart system and in reducing power consumption.

  • OmPrompt: OmPrompt provides customer automation management for order-to-cash process. It makes the complete invoicing process automated and replaces the irritating manual rekeying process and rigid EDI systems.

  • Stream: Stream is a complete GSM solution for Machine to Machine systems on the 3G and 4G network. They use proprietary web based and billing platform 'OaSys', enables customers to easily and quickly monitor network services and manage entire SIM estates.

  • A few more attendees of this event were Sub10 systems (manufacturer of Ethernet Bridges), Sunde (a company dealing with innovative resource sharing amongst computers where SUNDE products enable 50 individual to share one standard PC/server) and uMotif (provides health care softwares in from of B2B2C platforms for improving patience adherence to medical regimes).

As you can see all of these technologies are foreign and dream for the Indian market. Just think of having an automated metering system where GSM service will ensure proper and timely billing and will also reduce the need of manual labor thus enabling the government to employ people to more productive tasks.
