Do you want to know how to configure your new LEO-USB-WIFI device from Leoxsys? Read this setup guide to learn how you can setup the Leo pocket Wi-Fi hotspot device.

The LEO-USB-WIFI device requires an external internet source like a DSL line or a USB modem like Tata Photon+ or Tata Docomo. If you have the Leo USB Wi-Fi device and a valid 2G/3G USB modem, you are ready to go.

Prepare your LEO-USB-WIFI hotspot device :

Carefully unpack the LEO USB WIFI unit from the box. Keep aside all the accessories except micro USB cable.

1. Connect the LEO USB WIFI to your computer using the micro USB cable. Connect your 2G/3G dongle to the device.

2. Click on the wireless symbol on your system tray to see available internet connections.

3. Look for the WIFI hotspot name 'POCKET 3G' which is your LEO USB WIFI modem. If don't see 'POCKET 3G' there, wait for a minute or two until your computer recognizes it. If you still don't see it there, read our LEO-USB-WIFI troubleshooting guide.)

4. Double click on 'POCKET 3G' and get connected to it.

5. The system will ask for a passcode for connection. Use the default passcode '1234567890'.

6. Make sure the screen shows the status as 'Connected'. If not, disconnect and try again.

7. Now, open Internet Explorer and type the url http://192.168.1.254 to access the admin screen.

8. Use the default user id 'admin' and password 'admin'.

9. Click on 'Setup Wizard' on the left side of your screen.

10. Click 'Next' to proceed with the setup.

The setup wizard allows you to configure your pocket Wi-Fi device with a few simple steps. In most cases, you will just have to choose your service provider and enter the PIN (and APN in some cases). Most of the configuration will be selected for you by default when you choose the service provider.

How to use Tata Photon+ with LEO-USB-WIFI pocket router?

I have been using Tata Photon+ USB dongle with the LEO hotspot device and I must say it works great when paired. My family enjoys the hassle free Wi-Fi network. In fact, the LEO USB WIFI made the Tata Photon+ connection more reliable with its automatic redialing system on loss of connection due to any reason. We never experienced any connection issues.

How to configure Tata Photon+ with LEO USB WIFI?

The setup is very straight and simple. You just have to connect your USB dongle to the LEO USB device and go to the admin site (http://192.168.1.254) to configure it.

From the admin screen, choose the 'Setup Wizard' and proceed with the quick setup.

In the next screen, you will be asked to choose your 'USB 3G Modem'. Choose the option 'CDMA2000-EVDO'. The screen will show a list of available options. From the list, choose the ISP 'Tata Photon+' option.

From the setup wizard, here is a sample admin screen in which I have selected Tata Photon+ as the service provider.

The only other field you have to fill is the 'PIN' number which you received on purchase of the Photon+ USB data card. Provide the PIN number and leave all other fields. These will get filled by default. There is no APN required for Tata Photon+ connection.

After making selections, click on the 'Next' button to proceed.

In the second step, you can choose a name for your Wi-Fi network (SSD). The default name is 'Pocket 3G' and you can change it to a custom name if you want. Also, you may choose a security option if you plan to use the device in public place.

In the above screenshot, I have selected the network name 'POCKET 3G' and disabled the security option but I strongly recommend you choose the security option to avoid others accessing internet through your personal Wi-Fi network.
