Leoxsys LEO-USB-WIFI not working? Let us troubleshoot

Are you having problems with your LEO-USB-WIFI Hotspot device? Read and try these troubleshooting before you contact their customer support. In most cases, you can resolve most of these WIFI issues with the help of these tips.

I have been using the Leoxsys LEO-USB-WIFI and have been pretty happy with the device. However, occasionally I landed in to some connectivity issues with this, just like any other travel wireless routers. One of the issues I have seen is, once I turn off the device and turn on or go out of range with my laptop and later comeback, occasionally it may not connect to internet even though the LEO-USB-WIFI shows that it is connected. Another issue I have observed is, if I switch from Router mode to Access Point mode, it may lose the previous settings.

I had similar issues when I was using the Tata Photon+ USB datacard directly on the laptop and in fact, using it with LEO-USB-WIFI has reduced the connectivity issues. It looks like this device is doing some troubleshooting by itself and making the TATA Photon+ more reliable.

Here are couple of troubleshooting tips if you are experiencing internet connection problems with LEO-USB-WIFI pocket router.

Problem: Pocket 3G WiFi Hotspot not listed in available Wireless Networks

  1. If your Pocket 3G WIFI hotspot is not listed in your wireless connections, turn of the device and turn on again. Wait for 1 to 2 minutes to see if the device shows up in your list of available wireless hotspots. In almost every case, it will show up after about 30 seconds to 2 minutes.

  2. Directly connect the device using microUSB cable and see if it works now.

  3. Check your hotspot name (SSID) and other settings in your router settings. Open Internet Explorer, Type http://192.168.1.254 and check the settings.

  4. Turn off your wireless switch on the computer and turn on again.

  5. Try disabling the wireless adapter and enable again. You can disable and enable the wireless adapter from Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections.

Problem: Device connected, but no internet access

  1. Be patient and wait for 2 to 3 minutes. In most cases, computer will get connected to internet without any other changes after 30 seconds to 1 minute.

  2. Turn off the LEO-USB-WIFI device using the power switch on the side of the device. Wait for few seconds and turn on again.

  3. Check your router settings using the admin screen. Connect device to your computer using USB cable. Open Internet Explorer, Type http://192.168.1.254 and check the settings. You may go through the setup wizard again and make sure you have selected the correct USB 3G Modem and ISP. Also, check the PIN. If you have switched the mode in the device, you may have lost the settings you had made for the previous mode.

  4. Double click on your Wifi symbol in your system tray and click on "Open network and sharing center". Click on your Wireless Network Connection for the router. Click on the Diagnose button and let Windows try to diagnose and fix the problem.

  5. If Windows fails to diagnose and solve the problem, try disabling the wireless adapter and enable again. You can disable and enable the wireless adapter from Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections.

  6. If you have connected the device directly to the power and not to your computer, remove the microUSB cable from the power adapter and connect it directly to your computer's USB port. Wait for few minutes and see if you can connect to internet. If not, repeat step 1 and 2 above.

  7. Remove your datacard and insert again. Wait for few minutes and see if you can access internet.

  8. If you are using a prepaid datacard, check your balance. You may have run out of balance on your datacard. In that case, recharge your card.

So far, I am very impressed with the LEO-USB-WIFI device and I would recommend it. This is the first WIFI hotspot device I am trying and everyone at my home is asking why I never tried one so far. Kids are the happiest since they could play internet games while we are travelling. So far the daddy was the only one who had the luxury of using internet on the move:-)
