After moving to India, I was looking for a good Online Shopping website so that I could make a few purchases for my family. I was in search of a local company and I needed something which would be reliable and have a good number of product collection as well. Interestingly, I came to know about Flipkart.com online shopping portal. Shopping Online in India is Risky
Online shopping in India was considered highly risky and unpredictable by me and by most of the Indian's as well. The only reason for this was that no one believed in online purchases and people were reluctant to opt for shopping online and that too using their Online banking account, bank debit or credit cards. Hence, it was very risky to talk and discuss about online shopping since no one trusted online shopping.
In this way, I really needed some trust worthy online shopping portal which could be used to purchase various items online. Whenever, I asked about how to shop online in India, everyone would stop me and restrict me saying that are you crazy to do so? Please go to a shop and purchase items manually. Everyone said, “Do not trust the online shopping portals".
I am fond of reading books written by Laura Ingalls and I wanted to purchase these books using various online shopping websites in India. The books written by Laura Ingalls are in the form of series and I was dying to purchase next series of it. The series was available on the online shopping website like Amazon but I was not having a debit or credit card so as to order the books online. I was looking for COD i.e. Cash on Delivery payment option on the various online shopping websites. I had been waiting very long to get the next series of books written by Laura Ingalls and they were not available in India. Flipkart Online Shopping Portal :
The Flipkart.com online shopping website advertisement was aired through several Television shows and it was a great find for me. Yes a trust worth site which I could rely on and shop online for various items. Amazingly, I found the books written by Laura Ingalls. In this way, Flipkart.com helped me to order the books online and I was literally on cloud 9 as I found a genuine online shopping portal.
It was the best experience to place an order on Flipkart.com online shopping portal where they sent me SMS and a confirmation email as well. Also, the registration process was easier as the Facebook account could be used to place order on Flipkart.com online shopping portal. The email also informed about shipment of the items purchased online. 
Payment options at Flipkart
The COD i.e. Cash on Delivery option was available and I was very excited since It was my favorite option to place order. Another interesting feature that I liked about Flipkart online shopping portal is the EMI (Easy monthly Installment) feature.
The Flipkart.com provides a return policy of 30 days on products that are damaged while transporting from their shop to our home. Also, if the products are faulty they can be replaced within 30 days. I never had to use this since I did not really have any issues regarding the items shipped to my home. I did have issues with some toys that were totally damaged and improper in shape. So it was the manufacturing defect and it could not be replaced as other products would be similar in shape and built. Every customer who purchases an item on Flipkart.com can mention his/her personal experience just below the products and new customers can read those reviews before placing the order. After placing the order online, I got an automated email and a confirmation SMS as well. The email notified me about the purchased items and it also provided a link to track the ordered products. My products were delivered in parts. I got one book on one day and remaining on the next day. I was informed about delivery in parts through the email and SMS confirmation system. The books were nicely packed and were in good condition. The COD option is a perfect option for me and my family and it feels great when the product item arrives at home within 4 to 5 days after placing the order.
I will be using the Flipkart.com portal for further purchases of items but the features like intuitive products recommendations, recently popular products needs to be incorporated while searching and placing order of various items online. Therefore, the ultimate aim of Flipkart.com online shopping portal must be to offer best service to the customers and not to attract customers with several exciting offers.
In conclusion, my shopping experience isn't something to gloat about, but I liked the delivery and billing part.
