D-Link DIR-865L Cloud Router Review: Wireless AC 1750 Dual-Band Router
Today in this article I will review one of the best WiFi router released by D-Link, which none other than D-Link DIR-865L. This Wireless router has many interesting features and amazing specs. Design
D-Link DIR-865L has got an unique design of a square shaped vertical box. The antennas of the device are placed inside the square box in order to make the device look compact while compared to other high-end routers. On the front side of the device, it holds a WPS button and two LEDs each for power and connectivity status. There are four LAN ports on the rear side of the device, by which it can connect devices like computers via cables. There is also a WAN port that takes in the network connection for sharing it with different clients. The specialty of these ports are that, they are Gigabit supported ports that are capable of providing high speed data transfer. Along the side of these ports, there is also a room for USB 2.0 Port that can connect any hardware storage and share it with the connected devices. Next to these ports there is reset button and a power on/off button. There is also a reset button on bottom end of the device, that will allow you to just reset the device if you need to. The device also carry a WPS switch over the side that is useful in quick hooking up of a WiFi client with network. On the bottom most part of the device, there is a detachable base, but you do not need to detach it, you will void warranty of the device upon detaching that base. Specifications and Features
D-Link DIR-865L is the first wireless router released by D-Link. It is a powerful cloud router that well performs in delivering high speed internet access over Dual-Band; 5GHz band as well as 2.4 GHz. The router also supports all the existing wireless clients ranging from 802.11 b to 802.11 ac along with the N900-type wireless connectivity. The QOS feature that is present in some other D-Link devices like the D-Link DIR-857, is another remarkable feature that enables this device to offer customized bandwidth settings for advanced users. Another interesting feature about this device is its cloud features, that allows the users to remotely access and manage your home network using a web browser or a mobile device. This cloud feature also can be equally accessible by the Android/iOS running devices with a dedicated app called 'MyDlink Lite'. Other important features of this device includes guest networking, QOS, IPv6 support and other common high-end router features. But unlike other D-Link routers, the support for smooth HD streaming is not compatible with this device. Apart from this feature, the device comes with all the other features that are collectively available in other D-Link routers.
The setup of D-Link DIR-865L is comparatively very easy than some of other Wireless routers. You will just need to plug the device to an AC output and provide an internet connection to the WAN port. The device can be easily managed even with your WiFi enabled mobile device. You can later on launch the setup wizard from another computer that is directly connected with one of the LAN port on the device. There will be a quick setup process and the setup can be completed within couple of seconds. Conclusion
Even though some of the most important features like HD streaming is not compatible with this device, it strikes back with much greater options that other HD routers do not support. The device that enables cloud feature is another important one which can be easily accessed by logging into MyDlink portal. The cloud feature will allow you to access all the devices that are connected with D-Link DIR-865L. While peeking into the price of D-Link DIR-865L, it seems to be little bit overpriced with a price tag of $190 in the markets. But when considering the unique and interesting features that the device supports, it really would worth more than the price.
