How to use extended desktop with Powerpoint presentation
Are you trying to figure out how to use extended desktop when you are giving a Powerpoint presentation using a projector? Read the simple tips to project the PPT on another screen in fullscreen mode.
I was giving a training to few people in my office and was using a projector to show the PPT presentation on the wall. While doing the presentation, I wanted to access some of my confidential documents which I did not want others to see. Obviously my choice was to use the extended desktop feature so that I can see my windows in my laptop and show the Powerpoint presentation on the projector. However, even if I open the Powerpoint in the extended screen, when I start the presentation, it was opening in the primary display only. Since the presentation is fullscreen and has no Windows header to drag it to the other screen, I was confused how to open it in the second screen.
I did a quick search in the Powerpoint Help topics and figured out how to show the presentation in the second screen. How to show Powerpoint presentations in second monitor or projector
Follow the steps below to make your ppt presentations visible in second screen:
1. Open your presentation in Powerpoint.
2. Click on the ribbon tab "Slideshow"
3. In the "Show on" dropdown, select the monitor/projector where you want the the presentation to be opened. (This option will be enabled only if your second screen is connected to your computer)
4. Optionally, you may check the "Use Presenter View", which will automatically select the second display for you. Also, the presenter view will allow you to better manage the presentation from the primary screen while the presentation is shown in the second screen.
Thank you for your post! I can't wait to try this when I get into the office for a meeting today.
