The D-Link DIR-505 is really compact router and the design of this device is nearly same to a charger plug of mobile phones. On top of this device it holds a selectable switch by which we are allowed to change the modes from Router/AP mode to either repeater or WiFi mode. Towards the bottom section of the device we can see some ports which are dedicated to internet LAN, which can support data speed up to 100Mbps. Earlier we mentioned about the three modes that the router delivers, on the first mode, that is the router mode, the device itself is being connected to your existing modem directly via internet LAN cable and shares the primary network connectivity among other WiFi enabled devices. Whereas in its second configuration as a repeater, it amplifies your existing WiFi range and provides better extended WiFi connection far away from the primary device. And finally the last configuration delivers you a WiFi hotspot to your available WiFi devices, by which the device takes the existing WiFi connection and creates a new WiFi network.
