Is Microsoft Surface Tablet too expensive?

Microsoft Surface Tablet is one of the most anticipated gadgets to come out this year. However, it seems like Microsoft has their traditional rivals Apple in mind and the price they have announced is quite high, just like Apple's iPad. So read this post to know more information. .

With its high prices - Can Surface challenge Apple's iPad

Apple has been undisputed king in the tablet market as there was no competitor for them in the market for a long time. Recently, there has been a lot of movement in the Tablet market as both Google and Microsoft has responded to the market's demand for variety in touch pads and tablets. While Google has come out strongly in the market with the release of Google Nexus 7, Microsoft is also not leaving anything behind with breaking in the tabs market with their powerful computing devices Surface's launch.

The question however is, whether Surface will be able to beat iPad in the market or not. If we consider the power of the system and performance of which it is capable of, there is no doubt that Surface is a highly trusted device. However, when it comes to matching the prices of both these competitors, Apple seems to be winning the race in market due to its comparatively lower prices.

Microsoft recently announced the opening price of their Surface RT Tablets in market. The models with 32GB internal memory and those running Windows 8 operating system will be available for $499 initially. Another model of the same tablet with 64GB memory will also be available that will be available for a price as high as $699.
When you consider $499 as price for a device so strong, you are in some ways convinced that it is justified. However, when you think of one of the key features of this RT tablet i.e. the slick keyboard, you are thinking of an additional $100 at least. It can be a great setback for Microsoft, as not too many customers will be willing to pay a price so high for a tablet, when there are so many quality competitors available in the market for prices quite low as compared to Surface.

The analysts believe that it is an aggressive price for a launch and it shows intent, which can be good to win interest of many users. Surface's main competition is iPad, and Microsoft is planning to compete primarily with Apple with this release. Therefore, when we compare prices of iPad and Surface, $499 for 32GB memory, Windows 8 and Microsoft Office is not a bad deal at all. However, turn of events will be notable when Google Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD, will both be available in market. Both these tablet devices are expected to be available in markets for only $200.

It is still to be seen whether Microsoft will keep the prices high and try to sell their product in the name of its processing power and performance, or they will compromise the high price to match the competition in market. Nevertheless, as long as, the corporate sales are concerned, the reputation that Microsoft has amongst the big business enterprises, the companies will be willing to buy Surface devices even for such high prices as long as the quality is promised.
