LG Electronics India, the leading Home Entertainment brand in the country, announced the launch of 84-inch Ultra High Definition 3D TV in India. This gigantic TV offers a resolution of 3840 × 2160, 4-times the resolution of today's HDTV. This all new 84-inch UHDTV is LG's response to growing consumer demand for smarter and larger televisions for home entertainment. With the ultra high definition display, this big TV offers crystal clear picture clarity and spectacular viewing experience.

The LG 84 inch Ultra HD 3D TV was launched in India at the Stuff Gadget show in Mumbai on Nov 1, 2012. The TV will be showcased there during Nov 1 - 4 in the show. If you are interested in taking a look at it, visit the Stuff Gadget show.

When I first heard about the new 84-inch TV, I was bit skeptical about the user experience it can offer. But when I saw it myself and after spending a few hours with it, I changed my perception on Home Entertainment systems. In this hands-on review, I will share what I experienced in my few hours with this big TV.
Do you think the huge size will make a TV lose the picture clarity? With the 4K Ultra High Definition resolution, there is no compromise on picture quality. The picture clarity is really amazing on the LG 84 inch Ultra HD TV.
In spite of having 84 inch diagonal screen size, it does not look too bulky. With about 2-inch thickness and a strong metallic stand, the TV fits well in to any reasonably sized rooms including bedrooms and living rooms.
I have a 55" Sony 3D TV in my home and I thought that is really big, but not anymore. After looking at the big TV from LG, every other TV placed near to it looked too small, which include few 42 to 55 inch televisions.
Viewing angle
This 84 inch Ultra HD TV uses LED technology and is very clearly visible from any angles in front of it. I tried watching the TV from various angles and faced practically no inferior experience from any reasonable sitting positions in the room.
Picture quality and vivid colors
LG makes no compromise on picture quality in any of their smart TVs. This big TV was placed along with many other 3D and non-3D TVs in the stuff gadget show. The picture quality on the ultra high definition screen was really the best and sharp.
Ultra HD Channels
One thing that may disappoint you is, there are no channels yet that offers Ultra HD resolution. But remember when the 3D-TVs were introduced, there were no channels offering 3D shows. Currently, there are several 3D channels available in US and Europe markets. Same will be the case with Ultra HD. The technology is evolving and Ultra HD could become a standard in the near future.
Big price for Big TV
No great things come at cheap price! This gigantic TV is no exception. The LG 84 inch Ultra HD TV (84LM9600) is priced at US$ 19,999 in USA. The price in India is not a direct dollar to INR conversion. According to the current conversion rates, the price in India should be about 10 Lakhs, but LG India announced the price will be 17 Lakhs (INR 17, 00, 000). It is yet to be seen how many of the Indian consumers can afford this expensive home entertainment theater. One thing is for sure - get this LG TV and you will never need to go back to a movie theater to have a wonderful movie experience!
Competitors
There are a few competitors to the LG big TV. The 90-inch Sharp 90" Class LED Smart 3D TV Model LC-90LE745U is a big screen TV, that is slightly bigger than this LG. However, the Sharp LC-90LE745U comes with 1080p resolution and will not even come close to the LG Ultra HD TV in terms of high resolution. Sharp has a couple of other 80-inch TVs, but none of them come with Ultra HD resolution.
Sony is also coming up with an 84-inch Ultra HD TV (Sony XBR-84X900), which is not yet available for consumers.
As of now, the LG 84" Ultra HD 3D TV is the world's largest Ultra high Definition television, available for consumers.
