Get Your Google Back initiative to bring back Google Chrome for Windows 8 Users

Google has launched an initiative called GetYourGoogleBack, to encourage Windows 8 users to switch to Chrome and Google search. Learn more about this program.

Google just launched an initiative called "Get Your Google Back" for Windows 8 users. The domain was registered by Google just 1 week back and the website was launched along with the Windows 8 launch.

The purpose of this initiative is to remind Windows 8 users to install Google Chrome and use the Google search app, which includes new voice search that lets you ask questions and search by asking instead of typing. With Windows 8, Internet Explorer is the default browser and Bing is the default search engine. Considering the Windows 8 interface is bit confusing for new users, most users may take a while to figure out how to install Chrome and switch to Google search. Also, since the Internet Explorer 10 is far better than its predecessors and is fast and light weight similar to Google Chrome, many Windows 8 users may stick with the default browser and search engine. This could be the motive behind this special campaign by Google to encourage users to switch to Chrome and Google search.

Visit the website to learn more about this campaign.

This video shows how to install Chrome browser and Google search app for Windows 8:

Usually, Google Chrome is the first application I install on any computer. I really like this light weight browser, which is fast, secure and stable. Well, recent versions of Internet Explorer is really secure, but if you secure it well, it is almost unusable for most scenarios. To make real use of the browser, you will have to disable most security features built in to IE.
