Microsoft and HTC have pinned their hopes on their yet to launch smart phone “HTC Windows Phone 8X. Microsoft expects this handset to be the torchbearer of its latest operating system and expects to give stiff competition to Android. HTC on its part will look at addressing the same segment that the iPhone 5 and the Samsung galaxy S3 cater to.

The phone is available in two shockingly stunning colors: Limelight Yellow and California Blue. The traditional Graphite Black is available for those who would prefer a device that is less conspicuous. The Windows Phone 8X is not the slimmest of phones at 10.6mm but the tapered edges create an illusion that makes it look much slimmer than it actually is. The phone weighs 130 grams and has dimensions of 132.4 x 66.2 x 10.1 mm. The phone has a Super LCD 2 display that is 4.3 inches. The 720p HD resolution and 16M colors ensure pleasant viewing. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2.
The polycarbonate chassis on the back of the phone makes it much more comfortable to hold when compared to phones that have a plastic back. The 3.5mm headphone jack is located on the top of the phone and is situated next to the power and lock keys. The micro SIM tray, the camera shutter and volume rocker switch are located on the right hand side of the phone. The advantage of having the camera switch is to capture images instantaneously. The Windows Phone 8X has a 1 GB RAM and a 1.5 dual core Krait processor. The phone comes with an internal memory of 16GB but unfortunately does not have a memory slot. This means you cannot expand your memory. The phone is powered with a 1,800mAh battery and should take you through the day as most smartphones in this category do.
Located on the back of the phone is the 8 mega pixel camera that provides full HD video recording as well. The phone is also equipped with a 2.1 mega pixel camera on the front that enables video calling. HTC has managed to throw in an FM radio to boot. A unique feature called Beats Audio enhances sound features and is bound to please music lovers.
The phone has no dearth of options when it comes to data connectivity. The Windows Phone 8X is enabled with GPRS, EDGE, WLAN, USB, NFC and Bluetooth.
The new Windows Phone 8X from HTC seems to hold a lot of promise from its looks and features but we will update this review when the phone reaches the market place and we practically test each feature and application that the specifications mention. Market rumor has it that the phone might be priced in the 650 to 700 dollar range.
