How to add custom BigRock domain to blogger blog to avoid error – Authority not able to verify

If you have searched in the internet for adding custom domain from BigRock to blogger, then you might have come up with several millions of results. But these old settings are no longer valid now as Blogger has introduced few minor changes after it's recent domain maintenance.

So if you try the older settings you will have Blogger error 12 which says We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 12. Please follow the settings instructions

BigRock DNS settings to enable domain switching for Blogger blog


Follow the below steps to configure DNS settings in BigRock.com.

  • In order to add custom domain, you need to add few Records in DNS settings.

  • So first go to official BigRock website that is www.bigrock.in, where you have purchased the domain.

  • Click on "My account" link available in the right top corner of BigRock website.

  • Log in your account with your BigRock username and password.

  • Click on the domain name which you want to associate with your blog. This will take you to the settings page of BigRock domain.

  • Scroll down the page and look for "DNS Management". Under this, click on "Manage DNS" link to proceed.

  • A new tab will open as soon as you click on "manage DNS" link and all A, CNAME and other important records will be displayed.

  • Click on "A Records" link and you will see few A Records existing under this option. In order to link your BigRock domain, you need to delete these A Records and add new Blogger A Records.

  • After deleting the A Records, you have to provide four Blogger hosting A Records here. So click on "Add A Record" under A Records tab to proceed with customization.

  • You will see the the following fields under add A Record.
    • Host Name
    • Destination IPv4 Address
    • TTL

  • Among the above three fields, Destination IPv$ Address and TTL fields cannot be left blank. Whereas, Host name field is optional for you. So leave host name as blank. Provide Destination IPv4 Address as 216.239.32.21 and enter TTL value as 28800. Now click on "Add Recod" button to add the record.

  • So a confirmation page will appear saying that the new A Record has been added successfully. Alternatively you will see a new A Record under A Records tab.

  • Add three A Records with Destination IPv4 Addresses as 216.239.34.21, 216.239.36.21, 216.239.38.21 by keeping TTL value as 28800.

  • After adding up the four A Records successfully, you need to add CNAME Record which is the most important factor in associating the BigRock domain to Blogger's blog.

  • Click on "CNAME Records" and delete all old existing records under this tab. After all CNAME Records have been deleted by you, click on "Add CNAME Record" link to add a fresh CNAME record.

  • As per the new domain settings of Blogger, you need to provide two CNAME Records in order to link your BigRock domain to Blogger's blog for free.

  • Click on "Add CNAME Record" link. You will be redirected to Add CNAME Record page for your domain. Here you need to provide following three values.
    • Host Name – Provide host name as www.
    • Value – Click on check box in front of "( Type in a fully qualified domain name eg, abc.qpr.com )" and enter ghs.google.com in this field.
    • TTL – Enter 28800 as TTL in this box.

    Click on "Add Record" link to proceed.

  • Similarly, you need to add the below second CNAME Record for your domain.

  • But this new CNAME Record has to be obtained from Blogger.com.




  • Obtain second CNAME record from Blogger


  • So log in to Blogger.com and obtain unique CNAME Record for your blog from Blogger.
    • Host Name – Provide host name as given in the settings instructions.
    • Value – Click on check box in front of "( Type in a fully qualified domain name eg, abc.qpr.com )" and enter the new second CNAME Record value in this field.
    • TTL – Enter 28800 as TTL in this box.

  • Click on "Add Record" link to add unique CNAME Record for your domain.

  • After adding two CNAME Records, just go to blogger and enable custom domain switching for Blogger blog.

  • After enabling the custom domain settings successfully, you have added custom BigRock domain to blogger blog.


  • So go on and have fun with new website with custom domain name.

    I have faced problem while setting up CNAME. I have given below the error message which is displayed there.

    "Error Message: A,NS,MX,AAAA record Exists having same name. Please Check For Record Conflicts."
