Sony Xperia U - An economical Android Smartphone
In this article,I have reviewed the latest Sony's smartphone i.e. Xperia U. After Sony parted away from Ericsson this is one of the phone with just Sony written on it. This phone is a mid-range phone with price range around 17000 INR.
Sony and Xperia parted away recently. The first of its phone with Sony and no Ericsson is Xperia U a.k.a Kumquat. This new range of phone is designed keeping an eye on the mid-range market. People are more attracted towards the mid-range section. This phone was announced on February 2012. It houses 1 GHz Dual Core processor and is based on the Android v2.3.7 (Gingerbread) OS with Timescape UI. The dual core processor promises multi-tasking at its best. Sony has officially declared that Xperia U will gets its ICS updates in the Q3. The Xperia U has a 3.5 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen that provides FWVGA, 854 x 480 resolutions with 16 M colours which promise you a colourful display.Cool Camera
The Xperia U comes with a 5 MP rear camera with 16 x digital zoom and LED flash. The camera has useful features such as auto focus, 3D sweep panorama, touch focus, face and smile detection, image stabilization, self-timer and image editor. The phone has a 0.3 MP front facing camera.

The bar shaped Xperia U has a box like design with sharp edges that makes the smartphone look young and stylish, yet tempting to users of all age groups. Because of its unique design it stands apart in the crowd of smartphones. The design packs a 3.5 mm audio jack and microphone on the top and another mic at the bottom of the bar. The best part of it is a micro USB port on the left side of the bar. Data transfer takes place between flash drive and phone which is quite brilliant. It has a power, volume up-down and dedicated camera keys on the right. The camera key is very stiff so one needs to hold it firmly to click the photographs. The display is scratch-resistant making the Xperia U ideal for long journey. The Xperia U is Wi-Fi enabled and also supports the Wi-Fi hotspot feature which allows the Xperia U to connect to any other mobile network and act as a Wi-Fi router. One can create one's own Wi-Fi hub wherever one travels. The Xperia comes with DLNA that helps in the interconnection of various media devices.
The Xperia U is Bluetooth enabled and allows numerous transfers of data to the Bluetooth compatible devices. The only shortcoming with this phone is the onboard 8GB memory of which only 4GB is accessible by users.No expandable memory.But this shortcoming is overcome by the USB on Go which supports upto 1TB of data access.
