How to switch to Microsoft Account in Windows 8?

Windows 8 introduces a new way to login to Windows 8: using Microsoft Account. A Microsoft Account is nothing but an email address that you have linked with Microsoft services.

If you have already created a Local Account in your Windows 8 PC, you can choose any time to Microsoft Account Login to get access a lot more cool features that Windows 8 is linked to.


Follow the steps below to switch to Microsoft Account in Windows 8:

1. Click Windows button + C to open the Charms in Windows 8

2. Click on Search

3. Select "Settings" below the search option

3. Type "Users"

5. Select "Users" on the search results

6. If it is your own account, you will see your account details. Click on the button Switch to Microsoft Account.

If you want to switch another user, click on "Other Users" in the bottom the perform the same for any user whom you want to switch to Microsoft Account. You should be an administrator to perform this operation.

In the next screen, confirm your current password and proceed.

When you are prompted to Sign In with your Microsoft account, type the email address you want to use as Sign In for your Windows 8 computer.

If the email address you specified is already connected to Microsoft Accounts, then you can enter the password and proceed. If the account is not registered as a Microsoft Account, you will be prompted to create a new Microsoft Account using the same email address you provided. You need to provide some basic details like Name, Country and Zipcode. Also, you need to choose a password for your new Microsoft Account. (This password has nothing to do with your original email login password.)

You will be prompted to provide some more additional details to complete your Microsoft Account registration. Once you complete the wizard and confirm your new Microsoft Account by clicking the link sent to your email address, your computer would have automatically converted you as a Microsoft Account user.
