It's free so that's a good start, but the idea of this app is to compress data automatically to help you reduce data usage on your phone in order to save you money should you exceed your plan's data allotment. It doesn't work for streaming video but everything else you do on the internet, including email and application data, is routed through Onavo's servers, compressed, and then sent to your device. The user interface consists of three menus - Data Saver, Reports, and Settings. Data Saver tells you if the app is running and how much data you are currently saving while Reports breaks down the data usage statistics into illustrated charts and graphics to let you know how much data you are saving/using and where that data is coming from. Settings provides you with a wealth of options, from whether you want to compress email data, to a sliding scale used to choose image compression quality; the lower the quality, the more data you save.
