Once I started downloading the Windows 8 Release Preview, the first thing I searched was the Microsoft Connect website for Windows 8 Release Preview so that I can provide feedback to Microsoft. In a few moments, I discovered Microsoft does not provide a connect website for Windows 8 Release Preview yet.Why Microsoft does not offer Connect website for Windows 8 Release Preview
I was quite upset on the fact that there is no Microsoft connect website to report Windows 8 RP bugs and give feedback. However, I realized it is a good decision from Microsoft not to accept direct feedback on a pre release software. Even though Windows 8 has been very stable from the initial developer preview release, it is still a incomplete product. There are bugs and incomplete features. Many of those bugs are already known to Microsoft and it does not make sense to get the same reported by thousands of people. If Microsoft open a connect service for accepting bugs, a huge number of people would report the same bugs that are already known to Microsoft. It would be a better idea for Microsoft to focus on the development of Windows 8 rather than processing the bug reports and complaints of a pre release software. When the final release of Windows 8 available, you can expect to see a Microsoft connect for Windows 8 at the official Microsoft Connect website.
Even though there are no connect website for Windows 8 RP, you have other options to give feedback and report problems. If you have found any bug in Microsoft Windows 8 Release Preview, go ahead and report it at the Windows 8 forums. A lot of Windows 8 enthusiasts are active there helping each other and reporting Windows 8 RP bugs.
Microsoft connect website for Windows 8 RP for OEM partners
Some websites have reported that there is a Windows 8 RP connect website available for OEM partners. I could not confirm this since I could not find the service at the website. It is possible that Microsoft would offer a separate feedback window for the OEM partners so that their concerns could be addressed faster.
