1. Wordpress.com is a website very similar to Blogspot, Opera blogs and other blogging websites which provide you web space to write articles, while Wordpress.org is basically a software which can be downloaded from http://www.wordpress.org to install into your web space.
2. Wordpress.org is an open source software/program which allows you to edit it manually, if you are aware of programming languages to make your blog look professional and better,while you can't edit your blog in wordpress.com manually.In doing so, you may violate the terms and conditions of using wordpress.com.
3. Wordpress.org is a self hosted blog/website while Wordpress.com is hosted on Wordpress's server.
4. Wordpress.com is managed and fully controlled by Wordpress officials.You don't have any control over its database and servers. Wordpress.org is fully controlled and managed by you, and you have a full control on your database and servers(web space).
5. Wordpress.org allows you to install a huge number of additional plugins into your Wordpress website which makes it more SEO(search engine optimization) friendly and makes look like a professional website. In Wordpress.com you don't have a choice to install additional external plugins into your blog/website to make it more attractive and SEO friendly.
6. The editing of template/theme is allowed on Wordpress.org manually while Wordpress.com does not provide this facility to bloggers. In Wordpress.com , you have to select any of the default installed themes from Wordpress's website and you are not allowed to make any changes on them.

In Wordpress.org, the whole responsibility to run the blog/website is on its owner's shoulders (though you can ask for help in Wordpress.org forum from other members over any issue) but in Wordpress.com it is also the responsibility of Wordpress officials to make your blog run smoothly without any server and traffic overloading problem.
8. Wordpress.org is more costly to use as you have to also pay for webhosting providing website alongwith your domain cost while in Wordpress.com web hosting is provided by Wordpress only so it is cheaper than Wordpress.org.
9. Wordpress.com can be considered similar to Blogspot in services and uses but Wordpress.org is different from them.
10. Wordpress.com is more easy to use for beginners but Wordpress.org is also not so much difficult even if you don't know anything about programming.
You missed a very basic difference, which is we cannot show adverts and affiliate links on Wordpress.com blogs but it is allowed on Wordpress.org. Hence, we can't earn money from Wordpress.com blogs while can can from a Wordpress.org blog.
