You can troubleshoot a computer network by following few easy steps.Common Network problems
1. System is unable to send/receive data packets to the network.
2. Data packet transmission is very slow.
3. Your computer seems to be connected to Internet, but unable to open any site.Steps to Troubleshoot a Network
1. Open a command prompt and type command ipconfig, to check if your computer is connected to the network or not. This will show the DHCP server address and IP address of your system.
2. Use ping command to check if you are able to ping the DHCP server or not.
3. If you are unable to see the DHCP server's address then check the LAN cable connection. Replug the cable and check the green or yellow light blinking on the Network interface card. If the light is blinking then pc is physically connected to the network.
4. If the light is not blinking, there might be a fault in you Network Interface Card. Try to replace the NIC with a new one to find out the fault. Before replacing the NIC, just restart the computer once. This mostly solves the 60 percent of networks problem.
5. Also before restarting the system, re-install the NIC drivers. Corruted drivers may also lead to such problem.
