Mumbai college students can now book Aakash tablets online for Rs. 1000 only. Government is giving 50% discount on retail price of Aakash tablet. Around 3250 Aakash tablets are sanctioned for students. Read this article to know more about the booking procedure and details.
Aakash tablets are now available at a discounted price of Rs. 1000. This offer is only for students in universities and colleges in Mumbai. Students, who booked the tablet at Rs. 2500, paid Rs. 1500 more. The booking for Aakash tablets has already started in most city colleges. When this tablet came to market in October 2011, its online price on www.aakashdatawind.com was Rs. 2500. The price was reduced to Rs. 1138 for students.
Government is trying to make these tablets available in all parts of the country. The University Development Director said that a circular asking the number of Aakash tablets required will soon be issued to all affiliated colleges in India. Mumbai college students are getting a 50% discount on Aakash tablets but some confusion exists in this context. The college authorities have not clarified whether they are giving this discount on Aakash 1 or Aakash 2 tablets.
Providing low price tablets to students will definitely encourage the use of technology in education sector.
