Earlier I have posted an article about how to install Windows 8 Developer Preview on Mac using Boot Camp Assistant Software which creates a separate Windows 8 partition on the Mac computer and installs Windows 8 Developer Preview in that partition. There was an article on how to install Windows 8 using VMWare virtualization software. But what about Mac users who also want to install Windows 8 on their Mac PC without actually installing Windows 8 on their Mac PC?

Good news for Mac users who are interested to have a taste of Windows 8 on their Mac computer without actually installing Windows 8 on Mac. It is now possible with a virtualization software called Parallels Desktop. Parallels Desktop is a paid virtualization software which helps you to run Windows on a Mac computer. You can run Windows as well as Mac OS X apps with Parallels Desktop. Earlier version of Parallels Desktop was not supporting Windows 8. Parallels has now released an update for Parallels Desktop 7 virtualization software which includes official support for the recently released Windows 8 Developer Preview. With the latest update, all Mac users can now easily install Windows 8 Developer Preview on their Mac computer without any issues.

The current Parallels Desktop users can update to the latest version by going to Parallels Desktop menu and selecting Check for updates option. The latest version of Parallels Desktop now support Windows 7, Windows 8 Developer Preview, Google Chrome, Fedora and Ubantu Operating Systems. let us now see how we can install Windows 8 Developer Preview on Mac computer using Parallels Desktop Virtualization software.

  • You need to download Windows 8 ISO file first.

  • Now you have to open Parallels Desktop, and select File -> New. In the Parallels Wizard, select 'Install Windows from DVD or Image file'. option. Then you select the Windows 8 ISO file that you downloaded.

  • Now you have to follow the on-screen instructions to complete Windows 8 installation. That is all. You can now enjoy the next generation Windows 8 on your Mac.
