Features of Windows 8 operating system - Revealed at build conference

From the past one month, the buzz in Microsoft is all about its upcoming operating system which is internally code named as Windows 8 operating system. To promote its upcoming operating system, Microsoft started a blog called "Building Windows 8" in which they are discussing about the features of upcoming operating system Windows 8. The blog is authored by Microsoft people who worked on Windows 8 operating system. In the Building Windows 8 blog, Microsoft revealed some best features of Windows 8 operating system. They are
1) Windows 8 will have an App store
2) Windows 8 will Support USB 3.0
3) Windows 8 will have improved Copy Jobs feature
4) Windows 8 will have Ribbon interface for Windows Explorer
5) Windows 8 will have an option to mount ISO files without using any optical drive .
6) Windows 8 have Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) file support
7) Windows 8 will have Metro style desktop
8) It has Hyper-V technology in Windows 8 Client operating system
9) Windows 8 will have fast boot times.
The above are the some of the features of Windows 8 operating system, which Microsoft revealed in Building Windows 8 blog. Apart from the above features, Windows 8 has many features which were shown in the build conference which held on September 13, 2011.
In the build developers conference which held yesterday, Microsoft displayed some new features of Windows 8 operating system. They are:
1) Task manager revamped for great use.
2) Integration of Windows Live with Microsoft's cloud-based SkyDrive file sharing service.
3) Two modes of browsing for Internet Explorer (IE) 10. They are Online mode and Desktop browsing mode.
4) Refresh and Reset functions.
Windows 8 operating system is not only designed for PC's, it is designed for both PCs and slate tablets. Windows 8 will revolve around a title based user interface like that of Windows Phone 8. The title based interface is called as Metro style of user interface. New features in Internet Explorer 10
With the help of Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 8 operating system, users will be able to search their desktops or web through Microsoft's Bing search engine. Users can conduct these searches, by bringing of virtual thumb which is a virtual keyboard or with general soft keyboard. Another new feature in Internet Explorer 10 is draw mode, with this feature, you can use your fingers (either two or five) to produce a drawing on a Windows 8 touch screen. Apart from the "draw mode" there is a another feature called Enhanced Magnifier, with which users can magnify only a selected portion of the screen, if they don't want to magnify the entire object in the screen.
New Task manager for Windows 8 operating system
In Windows 8 operating system, Microsoft re-designed the Windows task manager, control panel and the task bar of ease and greater use. According to Steven Sinofsky, users have got all the power they want from the starting of Windows 8. In the re-designed task manager, applications will be listed separately from background processes. With the help of this, users can be able to view statistics of CPU usage, memory usage and performance of App's. Users can manually disable an App from the task manager, if he faces any problem with the App.Refresh and Reset functions in Windows 8 operating system
With the help of new features in Windows 8 operating system, users can refresh or reset their entire system. They can also pause Apps. With the help of refresh function, users can test and compare new and old system setups through a new feature called Windows Assessment Console. With the help of the reset function, users can reset their PC in to the default mode. By using refresh feature, users can refresh their PC's without affecting their files. In the build conference, Microsoft revealed two Apps which were called as "people" and "Photos" Apps, which combines software with cloud service. With the help of "People" App, users will be able to bring their contact info, personal calender, work calender from different places such as Facebook. Like the People App, Photos App will help you to pull together the photos from popular services like Facebook, Flickr, from the pictures library in Windows and also from Microsoft's SkyDrive online photo sharing service.
Apart from the above features, we can expect a lot more new features in Windows 8 operating system when it is ready for public release.
