HTML 5 tag reference: Tags removed or obsolete in HTML5

HTML 5 is the new standard for web page presentation and layout. There are over 100 new tags added to the new HTML 5, but at the same time few tags are removed. In this article, I will discuss few tags removed from the HTML5.

While HTML 5 added a lot of new tags to provide a better user experience in web pages, it also removed few tags for various reasons. Since HTML5 is not yet released and is still under development, this list is subject to change.

Even though the above tags are removed from HTML 5 specification, they all will be still supported by browsers for backward compatibility. Developers are recommended not to use the obsolete tags even though they will continue to work with browsers for next several years.
