Connecting Printer with a Computer - Guide
I will explain to you How to connect the printer with the PC?
The printer is an output device which is used to produce hard copy and it is connected through parallel port. The other most commonly used connectors used to connect printers directly to a PC are following –25 –pin DB( data bus female connector)
The parallel port on the back of a PC is usually a 25 pin female connector into which the male connector on the printer cable is connected. Most of the PC have single parallel port while some of them are more than one.

36- pin Centronics
This is the common connector on the printer end of the cable. The PC end of the cable is normally a 25-pin male connector, as describe in the previous point. The 36-pin centronics is so named because Centronics produced a large share of early printers. It is the standard connector for HYIB used on the all HP printer.USB ( Universal Serial Bus )
Some of the latest printers features a USB connection in addition to the standard parallel connector. If the parallel port is already in use by a scanner, The USB port allow the printer to be connected to the PC without using the parallel port. The USB port is the hot swappable port and you can connect the printer through this port even if the system is already online and working.
Ir OR IRDA
There are adapters available that can be used to connect a parallel printer to a PC through its IRDA connection, like the one made by the extended systems. This frees the parallel port on the PC for other users.
