SnagIt is a screen capture tool to capture anything from your desktop and you can capture an Image, Text, Video and Web capture.
Image Capture allows you to capture the entire computer screen as a image or you can select a portion of the screen. Even you can select active window or region or fixed region or object or menu and many more you can capture using the Image Capture mode.
Text Capture allows you to capture editable text from your desktop screen. Once the onscreen text is capture then you can modify the text easily.
Video Capture allows you to record the on screen activity of your computer screen. you can record a portion of the screen, complete desktop, active window and saves the video with audio as AVI file format.
Web Capture allows you to capture the images from the web pages. Using web capture you can capture all the images from a web site.

How to Capture using SnagIt
Once you open the SnagIt you need to select the options (Image or Video).Once the option is selected you need to select the how you want to capture the screen(Complete screen or the portion of the screen) then click the capture button to capture like the below image
Once you clicked the capture then you are ready to capture the screen. Below image show how to capture the screen.
Once the screen is captured and you can make changes and merge other picture or text. Using SnagIt "Tools", "Effects", "Size", "Color" and "Action" you can more effects to the captured picture by adding text, arrows, watermark, edge effects, opacity and add more effects. 
Once everything is done then you can send the picture to other through Email, FTP and even you can add this picture to Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint or Microsoft word document using different output options like below.
