Review of Dashcam - AUTO-VOX T9PRO

Are you planning to buy a dashcam for your car? Here is a complete car camera solution for you - the all-new - AUTO-VOX T9PRO

We all have witnessed traffic violations on the road and get frustrated when people don't follow rules and sometimes cause accidents due to negligence or careless driving. The recent motor vehicle laws allow the public to send videos and photos of traffic violations to the motor vehicle department and take action on such violations.

After witnessing an accident that happened due to the reckless driving of a person, I decided to go ahead and install a dashcam in my car. Even if I cannot stop traffic violations, at least I could record and report such issues and help the authorities. Also, there were multiple incidents in the past where I was blamed for the violations by other drivers and a dashcam would come as a handy tool in such cases to prove my side.

Factors to consider before choosing a dashcam

I started researching on the internet to choose a good dashcam for me. Initially, I thought it was as easy as searching on Amazon and buying the highest-rated dashcam. However, I quickly learnt that there are several factors to consider before choosing the right dashcam for me.

Below are some important factors to consider when choosing a dashcam for your car:

1. Image Quality

As you might know, dash cams come with many features, but, if you ask me, the quality of the camera is certainly the most important factor you should consider. Better cameras can capture clearer images. This is especially useful when you need to see small details after an accident or other incident.

Here are some specs to keep in mind regarding camera image quality:

- Resolution
It's better to choose a cam with more pixels. I recommend purchasing a camera with a minimum resolution of 1080p, but if you can afford a higher resolution (i.e., 4K), that is the better option.

- Field-of-View
Before buying the dashcam, I recommend looking for screenshots of the camera's footage, paying close attention to the image's detail and any side details. The camera should work fine if you believe it could capture every moment you want.

- Frame Rates
Frame rates are important because dashcams record video. Typically, 30 frames per second (fps) is the frame rate that dash cams offer. That's a typical frame rate, and for most users, it will be fine.

- Night Vision
Night vision makes sure that your footage has enough detail to see what's happening even in low light. The night footage might not appear colourful, but it doesn't really matter because all you need to see is the driver's license plate. The AUTO-VOX T9PRO comes with excellent night vision.

2. Battery

Most dash cams are powered by your car. They will turn on when you turn on your car and turn off when you turn off your car. However, some dash cams come with a built-in battery, so you don't always need to keep your car running in order to use the dash cam.

Please note that most people might not give much importance to this feature. But you might need this feature if you want to record after parking your car in a public space.

3. Storage and Footage Protection

Make sure you choose a dash cam with enough storage because video footage can take up a lot of space.

First of all, some dash cams come with a small amount of storage built right in, so if you don't want to, you won't have to worry about managing external storage. Dash cam storage typically starts at 4GB, but if you plan to store more than a few days' worth of footage, you might want more.

To store footage, most dash cams have an SD card slot that you can use to insert a MicroSD card. You may need to buy a MicroSD card separately for dash cams that do not come with one. Make sure to verify the storage capacity supported by your dash cam when you do this. To make sure you can capture enough footage, we advise purchasing a MicroSD card with at least 64GB of storage capacity.

Sometimes, it's only after the fact that you realise you need recorded footage. Some dash cams loop over previous footage, so it might disappear just when you need it. Luckily, a lot of dash cams prevent the footage from being overwritten.

The most popular defence against someone erasing video is the G-Sensor, a sensor that can recognize a sudden shift in motion and direct the dash cam to record that event. That kind of footage from a lot of dash cams is locked and cannot be overwritten, which is useful if you need to access it later.

4. Wireless Connectivity

Wireless connectivity for your dash cam has many benefits. To start with, you might be able to manage footage, adjust your dash cam's settings, and more if your camera and phone can pair via Bluetooth. That way, you won't have to mess with your camera's tiny built-in screen.

Several other features can be added to your dash cam by having internet connectivity. For example, you could stream video from your dash cam to a computer or phone by uploading it straight to the cloud.

For most users, Bluetooth connectivity will be enough. But some may require extra features and connectivity options. You may not need extra connectivity if you don't mind adjusting the settings on the dash cam itself and are skilled at handling file storage.

5. GPS

You might be thinking why GPS is important for your dashcam. Even though you don't necessarily need it, it does have some features that might help you.

If you're buying a dash cam for a business or work vehicle that other people may drive, it's helpful. With built-in GPS, you can track the vehicle and keep an eye on the driving habits of the driver, which can be helpful in the event of an accident.

For some users, GPS might be useful, but for most, it's not that important. Look for a dash cam with GPS if you like the idea of being able to track your vehicle or record location and speed information.

6. Built-In Display

Certain dash cams have a built-in display, while others need a phone connection to access the camera's settings. You will be able to view footage, change controls, and do a lot more with this display.

Larger screens will generally make it easier to use menus and see details in footage, but don't expect your dash cam to have a display as good as that of a smartphone. Look for something around the three-inch mark if you want one with a larger display, as these displays usually measure between two and three inches. For those who might need to adjust a setting, it's helpful that they are typically bright enough LCDs to see during the day.

AUTO-VOX T9PRO Rear View Mirror Camera with Detached Front Lens

While I was doing the research to find a good dashcam, I came across Auto-Vox T9Pro. The company was happy to send me a review unit since I do a lot of product reviews as a passion and hobby,

I installed the AUTO-VOX T9PRO in my Hyundai Creta. Since I am not a DIY expert, I had to get help from a local car service centre to install the T9Pro. I dropped the car off at the service centre and after about 3 hours they were done. My car is now equipped with an awesome dashcam with front and back cameras.

I was a little disappointed that it did not start recording from the moment I installed it! But I think most dashcams come without an SD card and we have to buy a separate one, so it wasn't a big deal. I ordered an SD card and I was all set.

Attention new users of Dashcam

If you are using eyeglasses, do you remember your first day with it? While you are excited to have a new gadget on your face, you might feel uncomfortable looking through the glass instead of normal eyes. It may take a couple of days to adjust to your new way of seeing the world.

The same goes for the dashcam as well. First-time users may feel a little awkward for a couple of days to see things through the digital screen instead of the normal rear-view mirror. But don't worry, this is quite normal and in just 1-2 days, you will adjust to using the digital display just like your normal rear-view mirror. And thanks to Auto-Vox T9Pro, you can turn off the display and it will become your normal rear-view mirror!

Features of Auto-Vox T9Pro

Below are some of the key features of Auto-Vox T9Pro:

Excellent Night Vision Without Overexposure
Imagine if your mirror could capture every detail with the clarity of your own eyes. That's exactly what happens here. The Rear View Mirror camera is built with WDR technology. As a result, it gives high quality images in any kind of lighting. It clearly balances brightness to avoid overexposure or darkness and you will get clear images in day or night. Also, it reduces the glare from headlights at night and gives better visibility. It can guarantee 100% driving safety with real time recording of road conditions.

Automatic Adjustable Rear View Angle for Easy Parking
As someone who drives, you might know how stressful parking is. This cam has features that can help you park more easily. When you put the car in reverse, the rearview images display parking guidelines and automatically reduce the rearview angle to provide a closer backup image. A 33-foot touch-screen adjustable rearview mirror camera extension cable is included in the package, suitable for a variety of car, SUV, van, truck, and trailer types.

24Hour Parking Monitor Protects Car Battery
You love your car. So, definitely, you worry about your car while you are away from it. Auto-Vox T9Pro has a 24/7 parking monitoring feature. So, the dash cam attached to your rearview mirror makes sure your car is safe at all times.

When the hardwire kit is installed, the backup camera in the rearview mirror automatically records whenever it notices a collision. It then turns off after locking a 30-second emergency video to prevent the car battery from dying even when it is parked for an extended period of time.

GPS Tracking
If you want to know your driving habits, there is nothing better than Auto-vox T9Pro. This dash cam's GPS tracking feature records your entire trip, including important information like your exact location, speed, and the path you took. This information offers useful data about your travels and allows a detailed analysis of your driving patterns. Especially, if you are hiring external drivers for your car. This feature makes it simple to keep an eye on your routes, guarantee exact navigation, and improve road safety.

Loop Recording & G-sensor
When you use loop recording, you don't have to worry about your memory card running out of space. It makes sure your travels are continuously covered by replacing the oldest files with fresh recordings. The G-sensor quickly identifies any kind of unexpected collisions or accidents and will save the important video for us to check later.

Split Screen Design
Sometimes while driving, we might wish we had eyes behind our head. With the split screen feature, you can see dual-lens displays at the same time.
This means that you'll be able to see everything on one screen, including the road in front and what's happening behind you. You won't miss a thing because switching between views is simple and only needs a tap. You will therefore always be able to see your surroundings clearly, whether you're navigating tight parking spaces or driving through heavy traffic.

All Around Full Protection
You'll have a broad view of your surroundings due to the wide viewing angle, which lowers blind spots and increases safety. You'll feel more confident behind the wheel since you can see more of the road and possible risks. Also, the picture is kept clear due to the cutting-edge technology, giving you accurate data at all times. You will therefore be able to see everything in your immediate surroundings whether you're driving on the highway or through city streets.

My Experience with Auto-Vox T9Pro

It has been about 3 weeks since I started using the Auto-Vox T9Pro and I think it is time to share my review.

Overall, I am very happy with the quality of T9Pro. The build quality and premium feel of the product are very impressive. It was quite straightforward to install on my car. Currently, the rear camera is installed on the license plate in the back of the car but I think I should move this to the rearglass and place the camera inside the car. This will help to protect the camera from getting dirty and also avoid someone stealing the camera. Also, the camera will be safer if it is placed inside the car behind the backglass in case of minor collisions from the back.

The digital display allows me to view the front view, back view and combination view. I rarely use the front view and combination view. The display clarity is exceptionally good compared to many other dashcams I have seen in other cars. The display screen is very sensitive to touch actions and there is no lag. The settings screen is very easy to use and I could figure out everything without referring to any manuals.

Overall, I am very happy with Auto-Vox T9Pro and I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a premium dashcam. If you like to purchase, here is a direct link to Auto-Vox T9Pro in Amazon.
