Filmic Pro: Best Manual Mode Camera for Android/iOS
This post will show you the benefits of Filmic Pro application which is being recommended by many professional photographers to take full control of your mobile camera and produce cinema quality videos.
I came across this application FilmicPro because of my habit of searching for new and exciting applications basically for every month! I try apps that are new on the Play Store or go to our beloved YouTube to look around for newly launched apps or the best application in the category I am searching for.
Probably, the most important word in my dictionary would be "Passion" and I try to accomplish anything with passion. I took up photography even though I do love posing for the cameras yet most of the times, I wanted to capture the 'Story' rather than being a part of it. Though I am not a professional photographer or a videographer but still, I can capture stories that put a smile to people's face.
If you are into photography/videography like me then you definitely need to have this app in your smartphone. Filmic Pro is "The" app for capturing breathtaking cinematic videos. The range of flexibility offered by this app to shoot videos in manual mode is just amazing. You can toggle around with almost any setting and make the video yours.
Yes this application is not available for free and you have to pay around INR990 or USD14.99 to purchase the application but, it is worth it.
Its UI is also not cluttered and all the important settings are on the screen to make easy adjustments. It also features live RGB, saturation adjustments. The default camera application also does a great job but we often face difficulties in terms of white balance, exposure or sometimes even face focusing issues.
The Square Box in the above picture is for the 'Focus' and you can drag that box to the area where you want to keep the focus and tap on it to lock the focus. The Circle is the 'Exposure' settings which can be dragged up and down to increase or decrease the exposure.
This app takes manual control to the next level and allows settings that the user might find on a professional camera. The DSLR manual camera settings, the LOG gamma curve for tone setting is absolutely brilliant and takes your smartphone videography to the next level.
The LOG curve settings also come handy while editing your RAW footage on Adobe After Effects which gives you more data to play around with.
You can shoot videos on different frame rates and different aspect ratio up to a maximum of 4K resolution at 100mbps Bit Rate which in the app is called FiLMiC extreme. You can even shoot videos in the HEVC with is the next level codec after AVC and saves ample amount of storage. You can also attach your gimbal and control the app via its buttons which gives out breathtaking videos. It also allows you to add external microphone devices or use your headphones.
It has been highly recommended by many photographers to use this app and spending a few minutes will let you understand its features and its productivity as a great camcorder application available for both Android/iOS. It is the default video shooting app on my phone.
