What we think about the TRAI Channel Selector Application?

The application lives up to the expectations by every standard. We tried to work with it and found the options to work out your TV price pack in an excellent manner.
Given the fact that most of the customers are disturbed with the huge list of channels and packs offered by the DTH operators and broadcasters, we find it a great option to arrive at your optimised TV pricing.
optimised packs
We checked the application with the complete list of channels and found the a-la-carte price reaching around Rs. 5642. This won't be the case for you since you will be selecting only some channels. The optimization option curated the list with the broadcaster bouquets and a la carte option for the missing channels and offered us pricing of Rs. 4237. Since the selection of all 330 channels was hypothetical, the saving of Rs. 1400 should indicate that you stand to gain better suggestions if you are opting for the regular channels that you indeed watch.

In Conclusion

The new pricing regime was finalized in 2017, but due to the issues from broadcasters and operators, it was taken for a review. The regime finally came into existence from December 29, 2018 - but TRAI later decided to extend it to up to January 31, 2019. The deadline is quite near and the TRAI application should help you arrive at your pack quite easily.
Use the app once and share your thoughts. Meanwhile, it is the only app that would be helpful in creating an optimized pack as things stand as of now. We will update the post if we find any more such apps are made available.

The channel selection process is not as easy as has been described. There is a process of sending OTP before you start and after getting the OTP and during Channel selection process suddenly you are thrown out to start the process allover again. This means there a limited time available to users to browse the prices, packages assess the effect and confirm. We'll the system does not help you to know what is the time limit. It doesn't warn you. It does not help you to increase the time is you have not finished. It doesn't help you or remind you to save your ' incomplete' choices and in this way it is USELESS, unless these lacunas are addressed. Well I am a usability Auditor and can help improve.
