I started the search for a laptop or notebook online for my engineering teaching job. I compared various laptops for a price range between Rs. 23,000 to Rs. 30,000. Luckily I got the best deal with a 10% credit card discount and other cashback from the website itself. I got the laptop on 9th July 2018 and I have been using this laptop since then. The followings are my observations regarding the use of ASUS X541UA-XO217T.
This 15.6" and 2 kg silver gradient colored ASUS X541UA laptop comes with the Intel Core i3 processor with 2.4 GHz processing speed. The ATA Serial hard disk is having 1 TB memory size and having. The RAM is of DDR4 type and size is of 4 GB which is enough for daily or office work or college work along with medium size software which requires the moderate speed of calculation. The laptop also comes with CD/DVD ROM. The connectivity ports include 1 VGA, 1 HDMI, 1 USB 3.0 and 1 USB 2.0 ports.
Keyboard The keyboard is very soft and does not make any sound while typing. The few drawbacks as I have experienced are that the keyboard does not give caps lock indication and also does not have End key which is used to set the cursor at the last position in a line. The key travel distance during the pressing of any key is 2.3 mm. The rest area nearer to the keyboard is large. Keyboard also comes with a number pad and that makes typing formula or number task easy.
WiFiThe laptop does not have a WiFi button and because of this WiFi always remains in ON condition which might increase battery usage.
Operating SystemThis laptop comes with pre-installed windows 10. The pre-installed Windows 10 gives genuine support from Microsoft in case of any error or during trouble.
It also comes with 60 days trial version of McAfee antivirus.
BatteryThe battery type of this laptop is Lithium-Ion. It is suggested to have 500 full charging cycles before changing the battery. The battery backup is also fantastic. It is advised in the operating manual that one should not fully discharge the battery and do not operate on AC power directly. Charge the battery when the power in the battery shows a minimum of 5 hours of battery power available during the time when the AC power adapter is not connected. The partial discharge cycles are advisable. One should charge the battery when the power is left between 20 to 60%. The charger-adapter is of very compact design and is one of the salient features I like about it.
Sound-SpeakerThe SonicMaster speakers are of 3 W capacity and feel like woofer play.
Warranty The laptop is covered with the one-year on-site warranty on hardware and software which are pre-installed.
The budget ASUS X541UA-XO217T laptop of about Rs. 26000 comes with great features like Full HD display, 3W speakers, soft and silent keyboard, large palm rest area and Num pad with the keyboard is an extra benefit. The preinstalled Windows 10 is a huge benefit for Microsoft's genuine support. 4 GB RAM and Core i3 are best suitable for college and home purposes.
