Chinese smartphone manufacturers are creating a lot of stir in the world smartphone market. Some of the new entrants have been quite unheard of and left a huge mark on the psyche of the users. The latest entrant trying to make inroads into the Indian smartphone market is UMI. They have launched a new phablet named UMI Super in the mid-range budget segment. We have been using this device for last few weeks and here is our review of UMI Super based on use in the real world. 
Design and Build
The UMI Super comes with a premium design. This is in tune with what consumers have been looking forward to. In the competitive mid-range market, UMI has indeed tried to strike the right chord with its unique design given its price.
UMI Super comes with a combination of plastic and metal. The device definitely has a sense of comfortability while handling it. It actually feels good in your hands. The physical dimensions read 150.8 x 75.0 x 8.5 mm and the phone weighs 185 grams. That makes it a bit heavy to handle but gives a feel of a solid device. The bulk of the phone is primarily due to the metal unibody construction and the extra large battery.

UMI Super comes with a 5.5-inch display with full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The large screen is quite good for those who love watching High definition videos and movies. The display offers good color saturation. The 2.5D arc screen ensures better viewing angles.
In a great move, UMI has provided Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection to the display. The display has a great sunlight legibility as well.Hardware and performance
The UMI Super is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 Octa-core processor, that runs the affairs at a clock speed of 2.0 GHz. The graphics are taken care of by Mali T860 MP2 GPU. The Helio P10, in fact, stays ahead of the competing chipsets like Snapdragon 615 and 801 processor.
It comes with a massive 4 GB RAM. That is indeed unheard of for a device in this price bracket. Coupled with it is the 32 GB internal storage. It is indeed quite huge for all your apps, videos and movies. But, wait... you still think you need more? No worries.. you can expand the memory using a microSD card up to a whopping 256 GB.
The Helio P10 processor is 64 bit compatible. That makes it a faster working along with the 4 GB RAM. The phone does work effortlessly with whatever task you throw at it. Games and resource-hungry apps work quite at ease. No heating issues have been reported so far.Camera
UMI Super offers you a 13 MP rear camera. The Panasonic camera module provides the latest in camera technology. The camera app is quick enough to launch and lock in focus. You can use Auto Focus and Touch Focus. 
The camera on the front is of 5 MP resolution. It lets you take some good quality selfies. There is, however, the usual issues with low light shots which have a lot of noise. But if you ask me what could have been better in this phone, I would say it's the camera. If you are buying this smartphone just for the sake of photography - I would advice you to think again. Not that the device has no good quality, it offers you some good quality images - but it is definitely not the best camera phone of the lot.Battery
The UMI Super is powered by a whopping battery capacity of 4000 mAh. The Sony-made battery can give you 12 hours of internet usage, or 15 hours of continuous video playback.
The battery comes with a PE+ Quick Charge technology. That would mean you will not need much time to get your phone charged. You can charge your battery from zero to 75 percent in just under 30 minutes. Connectivity and other features
The UMI Super does offer dual-SIM functionality. And yes, it offers you 4G connectivity on both the SIMs. however, there is a catch here - you can enable 4G only on one SIM at a time. Another word of caution though. If you want the expandable memory, you will need to sacrifice dual-SIM functionality.
Other connectivity features include WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.1 and USB Type C. The smartphone does offer you USB OTG which is the most in-demand feature these days. The feature will let you use your UMI Super both as a peripheral or host device. The device comes with Gravity sensor, compass, and accelerometer.
The Fingerprint Scanner on the device ensures security, privacy, and protection to your UMI Super. The smartphone features a Microarray 3D fingerprint scanner. The sensor is quite quick in finding your finger print. The scanner unlocks the device just under 0.1 to 0.3 seconds. The finger print scanner has 360-degree recognition that makes it more secure. The scanner can register up to five finger prints.Price and availability
You can buy the UMI Super smartphone at Rs. 13,522/-. There are multiple payment options like PayPal, Credit card, QiWi or WebMoney.
