SmartBro App review - Get Postpaid like Bill for Prepaid

Prepaid mobile users have always been complaining about the balance deductions being faced by them. They are forced to remember complicated codes for information about the services they are subscribed to. Here is an app that aims at making their life easier. Let us review the new app of the block - Smartbro.

Prepaid users normally have no proper avenues to find out the rate at which their prepaid balance has been deducted. Prepaid users are forced to remember long and complicated codes to get the information. They need to keep checking with the codes for the account balance or pack details. A new smartphone app - Smartbro now provides postpaid like billing features for prepaid users. We will review the new app in a little more detail in the following paragraphs.

The App - Smartbro

The new app is aptly named Smartbro. It aims to provide a postpaid like experience in terms of billing to the prepaid users. The app has already been a success on Google Play Store. It has been receiving quite rare reviews on the app store.

The application does not need setting up an operator. It uses the Android platform to analyse customer details. It does not need any user input. When you open the dialer to call someone, the app automatically shows the balance on the screen itself. Well, on installing the app - you will need to configure the app which is done almost automatically.

App features -
  • The balance will be shown automatically on your dialer.
  • You need not remember the complicated codes anymore.
  • You will get a postpaid like bill instantly.
  • The app also shows your data balance. But, it seems it cannot identify if you are subscribed to unlimited data pack.

You will not need to worry about losing your main balance just because you forgot your data pack validity. The app will let you know well before the expiry of the validity. You get an alert three hours before your pack is about to expire. The app also lets you check data consumption on per app basis.

Smartbro is supported on all Indian telecom providers. Dual SIMs are also supported. The app is indeed a saving grace for Indian prepaid users. In fact, the Smartbro app has received an applause by none other than Google India's MD, Mr. Rajan Anandan. He describes the app as being a truly "Made In India". The app is currently available in four languages - English, Gujarati, Hindi and Marathi.

Is the app really needed?

Well, if you are a prepaid user - you will clearly understand the need for such a useful app. Prepaid users normally do not have clear information on their balance deductions. More often, we face questions like "where has my balance gone?". Having to remember the codes for getting the information from the telco operator is really annoying. And if you are one of those who keep changing your operator frequently (thanks to Mobile Number Portability), your problems are more aggravated. And the case becomes even more complicated in case you are using dual SIMs.

Add to it the fact that a huge part of Indian population does not know English. Most of the information provided by telecom operators is in English. In such a scenario, an able app that runs in multi Indian languages is indeed praiseworthy.

The app is more helpful for people of old ages. Once set up, it does not need them to key in the operator codes to check the balance.

The Developers - Optinno Mobitech

Optinno Mobitech P. Ltd is a Pune based startup. Founded by Sagar Bedmutha. He is confident of the popularity and usability of the app.
Bedmutha says,
"Nobody cares for prepaid users. We built this....for the segment which is 95 per cent mobile users in india"
Actually, Smartbro is not the first app from Optinno. The firm has an award winning app under its belt - SMS Blocker. The team of four highly result oriented individuals headed by Founder and CEO, Mr. Bedmutha, is planning to get more users for the app. The team has been planning to make the business profitable by making it ad supported. However, the team promises to handle user experience in a useful manner that will not be affected by the ads.

Any likely further updates?

The developers have future plans for offering more functionality to the app. The data balance tracking for postpaid connection is coming up soon. The app currently supports data pack balance alone. Special recharge packs and rate cutter plans will also be notified in the future updates. There are plans to introduce automated reminders for the special packs and VAS services soon. The app will also provide best recharge recommendations based on your usage pattern.

Currently available in four languages as cited above, more languages will be coming soon within the next three months.

Conclusive thoughts

Feedback for the app has been really promising. The app Smartbro has received a rating of 4.5 on Google Play Store within a short span of time. That in itself speaks a lot about the quality of the application. Aimed at being innovative, the app has actually a good beginning. Coming from a developer that has proved its efficiency, it is a great app to try. Moreover, it is a free app and is quite good to go.
