Coolpad Note 3 : Review
Coolpad is another Chinese manufacturer launching cheap smartphones with powerful specs. Recently they launched another smartphone - Coolpad Note 3. Let's check more about it.
Coolpad first launched Dazen 1 and Dazen X7, both of them grabbed a quite of attention from crowd as well as developers due to its adapting nature. Recently they launched another smartphone - Coolpad Note 3. You get a big 5.5-inch screen which will help you use it for office work and entertainment stuff as well.
Design
Coolpad Dazen 3 is launched with traditional Android design plain and simple standard. As we look at Asus Zenfone Zoom, it comes with a much complicated design which may or may not be loved by people. Coolpad Note 3 measures 5.5-inch fully made of high quality plastic with metallic trims around the edges. Apart from look there are other advantages of metallic trim like you will get enhanced protection in case of unintentional fall. It will stop the smartphone from slipping through your hands due to plastic body. If plastic makes you feel bit awkward then your mistaken my friend. Note 3 comes with a very fine plastic texture which doesn't let you down even while using it for long periods. Looking at the controls you get volume buttons at the left whereas power button is placed on the right. As usual you get 3.5mm port at the top of the smartphone whereas you get USB port at the bottom. Looking at the back of the smartphone you see camera at the rear-top, whereas Flash and Microphone (for camera) are coupled to the right and left respectively. Fingerprint sensor is placed just below the camera which gives you easy access to it, definitely this thing is copied from new Nexus smartphones. You get removable back panel but unremovable battery. Looking inside the back cover you will find two sim slots and SD card slot which is a bit awkward because nowadays most of the smartphones comes with SD slot at the outer body of smartphone to make it easily accessible. There are chances that you may damage your back panel's lock while opening it again and again. This issue is reported by many users of the smartphone. Coolpad Note 3 comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display which gives good feedback at this price range. Note 3's display supports 720 x 1280 pixels of resolution with 267 ppi pixels density which is bit low. You may not be able to compare with other device in this price range. Xiaomi and Samsung smartphones comes with much better screen.Performance and Hardware Specifications
Coolpad Note 3 comes with MediaTek MT6753 Soc 64-bit octa core processor whereas other smartphone in this range come with Qualcomm's processor but it doesn't affects performance of the smartphone. Maximum speed of Note 3's processor is of 1.3GHz coupled with 3GB RAM. You get Micro SD support which lets you expand your storage up to 64 GB. From default Coolpad Note 3 comes with 16 GB of internal storage and OTG support in case you want to use external storage apart from Micro SD card. Note 3 runs on 3000mAh of battery which easily runs your smartphone for a full day with good usage. Enabling power saving mode will extend its battery life up to 2 days. You get latest fingerprint sensor technology which is becoming common nowadays, you will be able to use your fingerprint to unlock your smartphone or files present in there. Coolpad Note 3 supports LTE (4G) technology which will enable you to experience faster internet speed. Apart from this you get Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.0. These are very good connectivity specification at this price range. All this makes this smartphone future proof.Camera and Operating System
People first focus on the camera of any smartphone before buying. Coolpad Note 3 comes with 13-megapixels of rear camera and 5-megapixels front camera. Camera of this smartphone snaps clear and very good images. Front camera is perfect for voice calling or capturing selfies. In the terms of camera this smartphone will not disappoint you. Note 3 comes with Android 5.1 with manufacturer modified UI. Keyboard on this smartphone is swapped by Xploree keyboard which is a big marketing strategy. It will record everything you type and displays relevant ads to them. Coolpad is focused on making money rather than satisfying their customers. Most users are disabling Xploree keyboard and staying with stock keyboard. This is the biggest con of this smartphone. Speaking in simple words, Coolpad is tracking their users. It comes with little bloatware applications - WeChat, Whatsapp, Facebook, WPS Office and Amazon. WeChat is not much of use in India but as we know, it is just promotion. Most of the Chinese manufacturers comes with WeChat preloaded which takes up little space but is useless for us.Verdict and Price
At this price range Coolpad Note 3 is a good smartphone but there are tough competitors as well which may affect the sales of this smartphone. Toughest competitors to this smartphone are Lenovo K3 Note and Micromax Yu Yureka Plus. Coolpad Note 3 is priced at Rs. 8,999 which is an impressive tag. This smartphone is exclusively available on Amazon India.
