Pixlr by AutoDesk is another popular photo editor which finds widespread use. The app is well customised for the touchscreens. It can be used to make basic editing and touch ups. It boasts of over two million combinations of layers and filters. You can download and install additional themes, filters and stickers.

The app lets you create your own filter by combining different filters and effects and save it. This helps you apply your favourite settings in one go by selecting a saved custom filter. And yes, you can create collages with PixlrPixlr- so no need to install an additional app for collage making.
Being an ad supported app, it is a bit annoying at times. However, you can get rid of ads by paying up a one time charge from within the app. I must say Pixlr is best suited for the photography enthusiasts who excel in experimenting with their photos. Snapseed
Snapseed is the best and advanced photo editor currently available on Android. Developed by Nik Software, it has now been acquired by Google. It is a real feature packed photo editor. It gives you a complete control over your photos. You have access to an interesting array of editing tools to enhance your photos.
The interface differs much from what we normally see in a photo editor. The settings appear as a floating button on your photos and tapping on them brings up additional controls. The Automatic correction option works really at its best and perfect. If however you are not satisfied with the auto correction, you can always opt for manual adjustments.
There are a total of nine tools to assist in your editing needs. A Brush tool helps you adjust the parameters like contrast, brightness and saturation. A Healing tool aids in removing blemishes. You may also use it to remove a part of the image completely.
Snapseed features a wide range of filters like Lens Blur, Glamour Glow, HDR etc. Please note that there are many unique filters apart from these mentioned.
The app is free and the best part is you will not be annoyed by ads. Retrica
It lets you edit photos with an amazing array of tools and filters. It is a different app than the other photo editors enlisted and discussed here. It has a camera option with which you can snap photos.
The Live filters let you preview the photo with the selected filter. That makes much sense wherein you can preview a couple of filters before actually shooting an image. Retrica has over 100 filters to choose from.
The app also has an in-app purchase feature to let you buy additional themes and filters. The unique feature that I like most with Retrica is the ability to apply a filter even before you take a picture and preview it.
The photo editor lets you create collages from the images from your collection. You can also shoot an image with the app and add it to the collage. The built in camera app also stores the location data into the image shot. PicsArt
One of the best and popular photo editors available for free, PicsArt also has a built in camera app just like Retrica. It consists of a good range of filters, effects and decorations. It is a real powerful photo editor out there. The results are quite comparable to Photoshop.
PicsArt Photo Studio happens to be one of the most creative photo editors with an excellent list of of editing tools. As said before , it does offer you a PhotoShop like versatility and creativity. In fact, review sites have even gone to the extent of stating that it packs in more functionality than we can normally see in a mobile app.
PicaArt happens to be a combination of multiple tools. It has a built In camera, an image editor, a drawing tool and a social platform. You can share the edited images to popular social networks like Facebook and Twitter. They can be also shared via messaging or email. Additionally it has its own internal social network on the same lines as Instagram does.
It provides you basic editing options, but the focus is more on collages. The drawing mode is quite impressive and has quite many features. There are some unusual and newer features like Finger Painting. The social network integration makes it an app to look out for. You can import images from social networks as also can share your edited images to them from within the app. The interface makes it stand apart from the competitors. My views
Which among the above would I recommend? Well, a tricky question indeed. Because it entirely depends on the expertise level you have in editing a photo. For the advanced users, Aviary and Snapseed would appear a better choice. Snapseed always remains my personal favourite- more so because of the "most of the time perfect" Auto correction. Also I like it for its wide range of useful filters. Many of the readers may find the list being nit so exhaustive. I would love to have a look at responses and additions if any, to the above list.
