Evernote is also the reputed software, but if you are getting one for free why to go for the other software which needs to be downloaded. So, I would personally recommend you to go for OneNote. It allows you to add check list, create note books, sections, sub sections and many more. We will look at the 3 best OneNote tips and tricks, so that you can make best use of it.

1. Easy To Create To-Do Lists

Remembering things to do for the day is always a difficult task. Some of us might need to do some important tasks in a day and we may forget to do them and it gets delayed. It might be a birthday celebration or the items you need to get it from the market or it might be anything. Using OneNote you can create check list or To-Do Lists to list down the tasks you need to do. For example, if you are planning to organize a birthday celebration, then there will be lot of items which you need to accommodate like balloons, cake, chocolates and many more. For that, you can create the check list for list of items you need to busy using OneNote.

Add Check List to Notes

Just open OneNote and type the item/task you want and press "Ctrl+1" on the keyboard. That's it. It adds as the item and to enter more tasks, just hit enter and follow the same. Once you are done with the task, just click on the check box and it adds a tick mark to that item, saying that it is done.

2. Insert Video and Audio to Your Notes

Apart from just taking notes as text, OneNote also allows you to add audios and videos. To do that, click on "insert" on the ribbon and you can click on "Record Audio" and "Record Video". If you already have the audio and video clips, then you can add them to the OneNote, by clicking on the "Attach File" option.

Most important feature of OneNote is, you can search these audio and video files. Yes, you heard it right. Where ever they might be in your Notebook, you can make them searchable by their name.

To get that, click on "File" and then click on "Options". On the left side click on "Audio & Video" and click on the check box "Enable searching for audio and video recordings for words".

3.Extract Text From an Image

If you have any image file added to your notes and want to extract text from it, then it can be done with just a click. You do not need any OCR (Optical Character recognition) software to be installed. To get it done, add an image and right click on the image. Now, select "Copy text from Picture".

Now, the text is copied to the clipboard and you can paste it anywhere.
