Review of Driveway Alert System from 1byone
I was looking for an alarm system for my home and came across the Driveway Alert System from 1byone. Read this review to learn more about my experience with this simple home security system.
We usually leave our gates open since some of us would be going out and coming in always. Also, kids usually play outside leaving the gates open. One of the problems we face is, if someone comes through the gates, we will not notice until they are standing in front of our door. I started looking for a good security system to watch our front yard.
I explored several options including security camera systems. However, a decent security camera system would cost about US$500 or even more, depending on how sophisticated and advanced I want to go. I definitely didn't have the budget to go for such expensive systems just to get notified when someone enter through our gate.
My next option was to pick a basic wireless alarm system that triggers an alarm when a movement is noticed. I have used a such an alarm when I was living in USA and it served the purpose, at the cost of US$25. I started looking for similar options and came across the "Driveway Alert System" by the company called 1byone. Hands-on review of Driveway Alert System
As you can see in the picture, this is a very simple system which includes a receiver and one or more transmitters. The receiver needs to be kept inside home which makes the alarm sound when the transmitter notices movements in its infrared range.
How to install wireless alarm system
Insert the required batteries and place it on a safe, hidden place in your driveway or gate. When a movement is detected in the infrared range of the transmitter, it sends the signal to the receiver.
Place the receiver on a table or mount it on the wall inside the home. When it receives a transmission from any of the sensors, it alerts you of activity around your home.
When you have guests or when you don't want the alarm to be active, you may turn off the receiver and avoid the unwanted chimes. Tips for using the wireless alarm system
Most of the low budget wireless alarm systems are not waterproof and weather resistant. So, don't place them exposed to rain or direct sunlight.

Remember to place the transmitters high enough to avoid catching the movements of small animals like cats or rats. Also, the sensors will detect movements of any objects including vehicles. So, place them accordingly to get alerts only for desired movements.
Check the batteries once in a while to make sure the system is active. When you change the battery, change all of the batteries together to improve the life of the batteries and the devices.
You can have multiple transmitters installed all around your home and the single base unit receiver can handle signals from all of the transmitters.
