Dayz – one of the most played mods out there. One of the greatest multiplayer games ever made. Although it's not exactly a multiplayer game, there is a sense of player vs player feel in this game that sets it apart from other games. It's so popular even after 3 years of it being released is that it's still selling in top 10 Steam games. That says a lot about a game that was released more than 3 years ago. It's awesome. There is no doubt about it. And if you have played it, it is pretty likely that you are looking for an alternative. Fret not, I have come up with a list of similar games that will bring a grin on your face for no reason. These are the games you'd really love to devote your time and if you loved the hardcore gameplay of DayZ. So without any further ado, let's delve in deep to find out what those games are :
For those who don't know, Dying Light is an action first person adventure game with some awesome parkour mechanics that has never been implemented in any game ever before. But apart from that though, there is not much to this game. Story is mediocre at best. It's not that they don't try to up the game with the story, but it never strokes the chord at any time. It feels short of passion. I don't know. It might just be me who feels this way, but that's what it is.
But don't skip this game just because of lack of a good story mode. You are going to miss out on a lot of awesome stuff if you are going to skip this entry in to the Dying Light franchise. There is a lot more to behold and enjoy than just the story. For example, there are tons of zombies to kick in the gut, or better yet, tear their head apart. You can do whatever you want to do in the world. It's your world and you are the boss of it. If you want to avoid the fights and go stealth, by all means, go for it. There is no one preventing you from doing this. You won't even need to kill any zombies if you don't want to. Just remember that once night falls, it will be near impossible for you to escape the town, so get your job done in the daylight. That's why this game is called Dying Light. Once the light dies, you are nearly dead unless you are an amazing warrior who knows how to combat hundreds of undead people coming at you all at once. I for one couldn't do it. Overall, it's a pretty good game you must not miss out on.
When I talk about Dead Island,. I am talking about the series as a whole, which comprises of 3 amazing Dead Island games. The first one was not that great, but was still pretty fun to play. The second and third entry, though, blew my mind with its sheer quality and attention to every little detail in the world. How a little team of just more than 50 guys managed to accomplish this huge feat is beyond comprehension. What surprises me most is that they managed to do it such a short time, which is nothing short of amazing. They did what they promised, and in some places, they did more than what was promised to us.
You play as a guy who is stranded on an island after a virus makes everyone else go mad. They turn into some sort of living dead adamant on killing those who survived the epidemic. It isn't long before you realize that you are gifted with special powers. The bites of zombies can't turn you into one of them, but you gotta be careful. They could always tear your head apart, which is the only way to kill you permanently. Just take care of this one little thing and you are good to go. You don't need to worry too much about dying if you can avoid the getting in the fight with more than 4-5 zombies at one. If there are more zombies lurking around the corner, get to them one by one. But never ever attack all of them at once. It's surely going to be fatal. Make sure to buy it on Steam. With Steam Summer Sales going on right now, you are surely going to get a pretty cheap deal for this game. There was never a better time to try this game out!
I am pretty sure that it's impossible to describe this game in words. It's something else – Beyond description. While it plays like a zombie multiplayer shooter, it goes on to become a role playing game later on. But to play it like a real RPG, you need to be able to survive the first couple of minutes without getting killed by another player, which is near impossible to do. But if you manage to do it, it becomes sort of a RPG. I believe that's what is a motivating factor to keep playing this game. A lot of people try to survive, but only a few of them manage to do it.

It's pretty difficult game. Make no mistake about it. It's more punishing than some of the hardest games I have ever played. In single played games like Dark Souls, you could always come back and respawn but here, once you die, you are done for good. You lose everything you ever had and will have to start from scratch. While it's certainly infuriating to have to gather up all the resources all over again that's where the sense of survival lies. You don't take this game lightly for the fear of getting shot in the head and losing everything you have right now. It makes for some of the best tensed moments in the game, which is what this game is known for.
