IntroductionOpen world games are not as rare as they used to be once upon a time. There was a time when any news of an open world game was cherished among the gaming enthusiasts as it was very difficult to develop open world games for weak consoles with not a lot of raw power. Developers often felt stranded to squeeze in details of the game world on PCs and consoles. Now that this problem is resolved, there is plethora of open world games in the market. Every developer is making an open word game nowadays. Take Ubisoft for example; every other game they are making is an open-world title. From The Division to Assassin's Creed Syndicate, most of their games are open-world seamless affairs. Why wouldn't they make more of the same when they are selling like hot cakes in the market? There is no reason for them to hold back. The case is same for other developers as well.
What I mean to say is, it's difficult to pick up a good open-world game when you find that everyone is making one. Some games are going to be poor, others are going to be good, a few of them will be exceptional. I am talking about the latter here – games that have the potential to be exceptional. So without any further ado, let's take a look a look at those open-world games:
Fallout 4No official announcements from Bethesda yet about this game, but we already know that they have been working on it for last couple of years. There is no doubt about it. Last year's rumour suggested that this game is set in Boston during the time of industrial revolution. It's going to be great news if it turns out to be true. Rumour has it that they are going to be showcasing a 15 minute demo on E3 invention this June. While it sounds too good to be true, let's just hope that this is the case. E3 is just a couple of days away. Let's just wait for them to reveal their giant game so that we can talk some more about it.
Mirror's Edge 2There has been a lot of talk about it, but then again, no gameplay footage have been shown so far for this game. What we know, however, is that it's not going to be a linear experience like the last game. They are making an open world game this time around where we will be free to flaunt our parkour skills by learning from one building to another. EA has been showing only CGI trailers of this game so far. Let's just hope that they are going to show some in-game footage this time around, which would be really great. There are going to be tall, white buildings, a lot of them. That's for sure.
The DivisionWe have been watching a lot of The Division footage for the last couple of years and from what we can tell from those footages, it looks gorgeously bleak and pretty for an RPG game. It's different and aesthetically pleasing to see a game mixing various genres of gaming and combining it to make something totally unprecedented. The game puts you in the shoes of one of the fighting survivors of an epidemic that has the entire New York city in its grips. Now you are tasked with a job to team up with other survivors and find a way out to restore things as they were. I don't know how they are going to bring the concept of survival game to fruition in an ,MMO, but let's just hope that they will succeed with their plan of making great seamless action/shooting game that will blow our minds. It's definitely not going to be easy for those guys in the studios and that's probably the reason why they have already delayed the game to 2016. Yes, this game is not coming in 2015 anymore. Here goes one more game from 2015 to 2016. I don't know how many games are yet to be delayed to 2016. It seems that 2015 is going to be year of game delays.
Assassins Creed SyndicateI am not going to say that this game is one of the most anticipated games of the year. However, from the footage they released a couple of days ago of this game, I can say that this is going to be a blast to play when it finally comes out on October 23, 2015. There is absolutely no doubt about it. They are working hard on it, especially after the failure of the last game from this series, which failed to live up to the expectation of millions of fans. This game is the developer's chance of redemption; otherwise they might not get another chance. Will it happen? It still remains to be seen as October is still a few months away, but we are holding our breath for this amazing open-world game. Let's just hope that it manages to deliver on the promises developers made last year. Barring their last game, they are yet to disappoint me, so there is no reason to be worried about this game. We already know that this game is going to be awesome.
ConclusionThere are tons of other open world games coming out this year, but these are the ones I am already in love with. They are most promising of the lot. What do you think of this list? Let me know in the comments below.
