Microsoft Edge Review
Microsoft's new browser 'Edge' is trending nowadays and it is said that it will compete with the top web browsers once released. Will it do so? or will it be same as Internet Explorer? Let's find out more about the browser.
As we all know that Microsoft's official browser Internet Explorer was infamous due to its unstable behavior and lack of features. Internet Explorer is not as famous as other superstars in this fields like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Although Microsoft continuously came up with new updates for Internet Explorer but nothing worked, but this time Microsoft is said to come up with a new browser called 'Edge' which will be released with Windows 10 in late 2015. So, lets find out about Microsoft Edge browser:Introduction to Microsoft Edge
Microsoft was planning to go for a new browser in Windows 10 and the started the project named 'Project Spartan' which was later changed to 'Edge' in a Developer's Conference at San Francisco. Microsoft claims that this browser will give tough competition to Chrome and Firefox because it comes with some features which even Firefox and Chrome don't have. Microsoft also claimed to give Edge a better look than it predecessors which will not annoy users while using it.Features of Microsoft Edge
As per Microsoft, Edge will be released with some new features which were never seen in any other variant of Microsoft browsers till date. Some of the revealed features by Microsoft are listed below:Cortana
Apple launched their talking assistant Siri, which we all are aware of. Microsoft also got hooked up with the same formula and are planning to launch a voice assistant named Cortana, but don't think that this is just a copy of Siri. Cortana is launched for PC, tablets and mobiles whereas Siri was only for iPhone and iPads. Cortana will be integrated into the Edge browser, which will help users get in-depth particulars of the search without going anywhere else on the Internet. For example, you searched for 'iPhone' and the browser opened a webpage with its review. Cortana will pop-up with a blue circle on the browser toolbar, which will show you related information about the product like specifications, accessories, etc.Reading-Mode
Unlike other browsers, Edge will be launched with a 'Reading Mode' along with some updated features that will remove all things that can interrupt the reader while reading such as ads, images, etc. It will give a sleek and clean interface to read. Reading Mode of Edge also gives you the option of using images while reading.Microsoft Chrome and Mozilla Firefox - Extension Compatibility
This time Microsoft rocked! A feature which was never seen in any other Internet browsers yet. Previous browser of Microsoft lacked compatibility with extensions but Microsoft found a solution for this problem. Edge users will be able to use extensions that are available for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox as well.Page Annotations
Another feature which was never seen in other browsers. This feature helps users to draw directly on the web page and share it easily. Edge comes with a highlighter and a drawing tool that will help you to easily draw on your webpage.New-Tab Page
As per Google, a regular internet user click on the New-Tab page at an average time of 2 minutes. What if the user clicks on the New-Tab Page button and gets what he is going to search. Yes, Edge has this feature too. It's new-tab page will have top sites already bookmarked which will be updated as per user usage. You will also find out weather report, sports scores, video suggestions, etc. as per the interest of the user which should save a lot of time.My Verdict
I think with these great features Microsoft will manage to get this awesome browser in most PCs and allow people to make use of it and help in their busy schedules.
Read Microsoft Edge browser - Tips to use and comparison with Firefox and Chrome
Good introduction to the Edge browser. A doubt though - the article states that the Chrome and Firefox extensions will be compatible with the new browser from Microsoft. Are they compatible as they are? I do not think so. Microsoft needs to develop these extensions , or indulge the developers into developing them. Can extensions available for one kind of browser be compatible with another one? Will anyone clarify my doubts?
