Windows 10 Preview for Lumia 630
Today my tech circle updated me about the Windows 10 preview. I checked whether my phone supports Windows 10 Technical Preview and it turns out positive. I have experience installing technical preview for Lumia 520 and so I downloaded Windows Insider app. If you are confused you need Windows Insider app to download Windows technical preview to your phone. The steps for installing the preview is straightforward and you need not do any fancy tweaks. The Windows Insider app will take care of installing the Windows 10 to your phone. The process took me almost 2 hours. New features
There are not many features added to this technical preview. I was warned that there won't be all the features of Windows 10 in addition I will miss existing feature. Okay, let's devote this section only for new features.
Photos app
The first thing that caught my eye is new Photos app. The UI and algorithm of the previous photo app are modified. The photos are grouped with several options like collection, albums and folder. In the preview version only the collection option is available. Below is the screenshot of new Photos app in the Technical Preview.
All the photos in your device, SD card, One Drive gets stored in this collection. If you have the same photo on SD Card and One Drive then it will display the photo only one time. The collection is nothing but aggregation all the photos on your device. In Lumia 520 many users reported the photo duplication problem and I think it is the answer from Microsoft for their previous bug.
Other upgrades
There are several other upgrades which are not noticeable. For instance, now you can apply the wallpaper full screen, whereas in Windows 8.1 it is limited to tiles. There is an extra notification bar like we have in Android. Instant replies to messages is added in this update. With instant reply you can reply to message directly from notification bar.
I noticed only these changes. I hope Microsoft will add additional features in upcoming updates. Drawbacks
First question that pops in everyone mind is performance. It is not smooth like Windows 8.1. So below is the list of bugs that I faced in my phone.
1. My apps Shareit, Twitter doesn't open. Luckily WhatsApp is working fine. My friend reported the same, he is not able to open some of the installed apps.
2. Browser crashes and closes whenever I try to copy text.
3. Video files are not opening directly. I have to select music backup to open them.
4. Phone performance has decreased.
5. Data sense app is not working.
6. Battery saver is not working. When I checked in forum it seems this new OS has better battery optimization and so it is removed.
These are the bugs that I face in my phone. Conclusion
I recommend not to go for this update. I feel like I have downgraded my OS. Sooner or later Microsoft will come with stable Windows 10 version and just wait for it.
