Try to earn points from the very start of the game because early zombies are easily to kill. To do this, first hit 4-5 bullets on the chest (only chest, nothing else) of a zombie with your pistol, then finish the zombie with an attack of your knife. This trick will give you maximum amount of points for killing a single zombie. This money will help you in buying powerful guns for killing powerful zombies. This trick works very well in the first 2-3 rounds because early zombies are fairly weaker than the later ones.
