Is Bioware making Mass Effect 4?

Mass Effect 3 was an amazing game that kept us on our edge of seats until credits rolled. Is there any chance we will see Mass Effect 4 some day? Read on to find out what I think about it.

Is there ever going to be another Mass Effect game? A lot of people started asking this question over on forums and blogs when they saw the closure of Dead Space franchise. Apparently, EA had halted the franchise when Dead Space 3 didn't sell as many copies as EA, the publisher behind Dead Space and Mass Effect franchise, would have liked to.

Rumours were rife that they are going to abandon Mass Effect series as well after it received a lot of flake from critiques and gamers for its ambiguous ending. Granted, the ending was not really what we would have liked to see, but it still was an amazing game nonetheless.

That's why a lot of people were worried that things are not going to go down well for Mass Effect franchise as well. Thankfully though, EA announced that they are working on the next entry of this legendary franchise. Here are some things we know about Mass Effect 4 -

It's in the making

It was announced in early 2014 that they are working on a sequel to this game. Yet, there are no signs of when this game will release. Heck, there is no footage or screenshots from this game yet. That's why so many people were disappointed when they only showcased some cinematic footage that were not representative of the game by any means. What are they up to? Nobody knows for sure, but one thing is pretty overt – they are on to something really big. You should keep your eyes peeled on the next gaming convention scheduled to be held sometime in June this year. It's going to be a big year for Mass Effect fans.

Last time we checked, there was a lot of hype, but they didn't follow up by showing at least something from the game. Did they miss the chance on expanding the reach of this franchise? Well, the answer is yes unfortunately. They could have done a whole a lot more to improve the sales of this franchise, but they chose not to. Don't fret though; things are looking brighter for Mass Effect 4 his year as EA has promised to showcase something from this game in E3 convention. Given the popularity of this convention, there is little to no doubt that Mass Effect will get its share of deserved limelight.

3 years since the last game

Do you realize how long it has been since we got a game from this franchise? As unbelievable as it might seem, it has already been 3 years since Mass Effect 3 launched on gaming platforms. It's pretty uncharacteristic for a company that likes to milk on a popular franchise and release annual reiterations frantically. I am not complaining though. It's a welcome change from the beaten path of gaming. They are finally starting to realize what they were dong wrong and have started giving more time to its studios for creating games.

Not only it gives more time to developers for developing games, it actually boosts their share value investors are increasingly becoming confident in the company. They know that the games are less likely to fail as the company is doing everything it can for ensuring a good game is produced. It's a win-win situation for everyone.

No Shepard

Do you remember Shepard, the protagonist of Mass Effect series so far? Of course you do. Who am I kidding? If you have played Mass Effect franchise, you already know this guy as everything revolves around him in the game.

Well, there is a good and bad news for you. If you loved Shepard, you are going to be dismayed as Mass Effect 4 won't be featuring him anymore. The story is going to be told in the same universe, but it will branch out. They have made it pretty clear that Shepard's story ended in Mass Effect 3 and they won't be bringing him back, ever.

The good news, of course, is that they are going to try something new and unprecedented. Knowing Bioware, they are certainly not going to disappoint you with the story and dialog options. That's what they are experts in after all.

I can't wait to see how things will turn out in Mass Effect 4. It seems that they have learned a lesson from Dead Space 3. Apparently, they tried to prolong a story, but in the process they ridiculed the staunch fans who wanted something new this time around. They are not going to commit the same mistake twice for sure. They better not, if they want my money.

EA is revamped

Another reason why I believe there will be a Mass Effect 4 and it will be awesome is because EA has changed dramatically in last 2 years. The predictions were not good about this company until there were a few changes in the top management team after being voted as the worst company in US for two successive years! Now they are totally focused on changing their public image. That's why they are less likely to falter with Mass Effect 4.

What do you think of this game? Do you think it's going to succeed? Is there anything else I should add in my article? Don't hesitate to spell it out at all. Let us know in comments below. Your inputs and comments are always appreciated.
